"Oh, bloody hell, how do I- Oh!"
"Well look at that! FOLDER! CAMERA'S WORKING!"
"Now... let's see... Ah. Hello there, internet! I am Hourglass! Here to answer any and all questions about my lovely show, soon to air! Folder is a bit camera shy, but I'd love to get some questions! Interviews are always a fun time."
Stardom Bound, Ashland Stakes, Keeneland, 2009.
I loved this filly. What a great name, befitting a 2 year old champion!
my stupid idiot son who cant go one morning without his stupid neighbor needing something from him [getting cut down from a tree][again]
(Directed at anyone who can answer tbh) What are the Dunes like, and what are the other major zones of the city?
- 🐺🌲
"The Dunes, huh? My home. It... well."
"The Dunes are misunderstood. People see smoke and concrete and assume chaos, but it's… methodical. Every scream of metal, every hiss of pressure, it all means something."
"We're not like the others. We don’t have green. We don’t have water. We have flame. We have grit. We refine—iron, chemicals... people."
"They keep us scientists below. They say it's for our safety, but I think they just don’t want to see what we’re doing. The things we test… they’re not made for comfort. They’re made for control. For survival."
"Sometimes I wonder if the desert outside isn’t just sand. Maybe it's ash. Maybe we’re standing in the aftermath of something we already burned down."
"Still, we stay. Because someone has to understand how the city breathes. Even if it chokes us doing it."
"We run the transport unit, here, too. Transport officers are pricks, though. Between them and the Ironworkers, I'll stick to living under the factories." "... I... rambled a bit there, huh? I'm passionate about my district, sorry! The other zones, though? 8 in total. The Major Ring is where all the people in charge stay, the rich bastards. Inner Ring is basically the opposite; overcrowded and underfunded. The Port's Edge is what you'd expect, fish and meat packaging. The Plains and the Howling Moors handle agriculture." "Then there's... the Frozen Pines and the World's Peak. Lumber and Mining respectively. Been fighting with them for years now, after deforestation led to the desert spreading. Not a nice group, either of them."
"I wouldn't mind answering questions about the other districts, though..."
Pocket Watch, you have cats? :0 Can we hear about them?
- 🐺🌲
"Ah- well, I.. my camera isn't, uhm.. cooperating right now, but if I- if I could I would have shown pictures!" "I have.. three now, I think? Uh... yeah. Three of them. I found a new kitten just- just recently..! My oldest is a very sweet sphinx, her name is Cammy. The newer two are Cub and Stairs! Both of them are tabbies, I- I think? They were strays, so I can't really be sure... but they like to cause trouble! I can't blame Stairs, he's only a baby, but Cub just likes to... to muck about." "I... should really fix my camera..."
Hi Hourglass! I'm curious, what kind of stuff did you do back in the day?
"Look, Folder, I told you someone would care about my older work, hah!"
"It's... one question."
"Bah. It counts. But! To answer your question, I was one of them big action stars in the late 80s, back when every studio was dying to get a cut of their popularity! I'm a bigger fella, and with four arms I can carry twice as many weapons as the average object, so I was a pretty popular choice! That, and I do all my own stunts. But, ya know, the older I get, the slower I got. Oh, my favorite movie I did, though? Blue Dawn, I'd say! Or... hm. Maybe Red Thunder... Oh, I cant decide...."
"Not this again. End the recording."
Hourglass, you seem like quite the interesting object.
You said you did your own film stunts back in the day, yes? Isn't that a little bit… Dangerous, seeing as you are made of glass?
What would you say is the most dangerous thing you've done on set? Or just in general, really. I'm not picky.
-🛡️🃏
“Hey, what’s life worth if you don’t live it, eh? Sure, scrapes and a few cracks here and there will last a lifetime, but so will the memories! Now I’ll tell ya, if those ‘recovery center’ things weren’t just some sci-fi nonsense, I woulda done a whole lotta more dangerous things for films! I do miss being in perfect condition, but hey, a few scrapes meant nothing in the face of a healthy career!”
“Most dangerous stunt, though? Ah, I remember way back when… one of my first movies, actually, they were meant to toss me out of the back of one of the Dune’s old steam trains! Gave me a parachute - we were gonna get a proper skydive shot - but ah, money wasn’t flowing into the Dunes like it does these days, and the damned thing was faulty. I was seconds away from the ground before they got one of them blow-up whats-its to catch me before I shattered! Hell, that take was the one they used in the film!”
“So, you ever catch a viewing of Red Runner, that shot is full o’ real fear! I… wouldn’t seek it out, though. Not a great watch, looking back!”
