I’m not arguing with anybody. Nor am I trying to prove to anyone that my beliefs/thoughts/values have merit. You either fuck with it or you don’t.

People don’t realize how authoritarian we’ve become as a society (and I’m not just talking about America; but Trump is a great example of the result of this.) There is a true inability to communicate without trying to force a point or ideals onto the person on the receiving end. A lot of people just want to be right, defensive and aggressive in their defense, than to be able to discuss divergent view points calmly with respect to the other person. I would charge that a powerful individual can participate in the latter without being reduced to the former when they don’t agree. Being able to converse from opposing view points without taking it as a charge on one’s personal view or (even worse) a bruised ego is something that we have failed terribly at as a collective. In 2020 we not doing this shit no more.

i can’t speak so much as to how uw treats their lgbt students or how their gsa’s are since i’m not in any, but i do remember watching my friend fill out one of their surveys targeting lgbt input and ... it was kind of a mess for trans people. like they labeled genders as “male” “female” and “transgender” and “non binary” and it seemed really clear to me that no one trans had played any role in putting the survey together
