when you say horrible plot do you mean the wrath of khan mirrors? cause i still like it better than the previous film, but those aspects do bother me still.
That and the fact that the movie clearly could have been cleaned up with the whole "secret militarization of Starfleet' angle they were trying to go for. There should have only been one villain in order for that to make sense and Admiral Marcus was good enough. Plus it would have actually brought questions to how Starfleet actually should operate and bring an interesting dilemma to the general movie-going public.
I mean say what you will about STXI, but in my opinion at LEAST the plot was straightfoward and didn't 'heavily borrow' moments from previous movies to make it more exciting and emotional to watch
