the genie, friend of the faerie.

a malevolent flesh-eater, the genie is a cunning hunter and gatherer. to find one in the wild is to meet a certain death.

a genie, while powerful, is a lightweight of a predator. they often form symbiotic bonds with the faeries. genies will patrol and protect the edges of faerie kingdoms, and faeries give the genie a safe place to stay.

a faerie territory protected by a genie is considered extremely dangerous and even deadly for humans.

summoned with a flourish of the arms of the undead, it has one single eye, clawed hands, and goat's legs. the more horns and limbs the genie has, the more powerful it is.

the common imagery of the genie bound in shackles comes from its subjugation from the likes of witches and wizards. witches often tame these creatures with bribes and a beneficial partnership, while wizards are more prone to force and bending them to their magical will. for wizards, they are often trophies.

spellcasters powerful enough to obtain a genie often use them to collect components, sending the genie off to gather rare elements the mortal caster could even die trying to get.

when captured by other mortals, they are often used for their ability to grant 3 wishes. the summoner must take care to review any possible loopholes the genie may use to take something from his mortal captor's life (in exchange his flesh and soul, which the genie really wants).
