I really enjoyed the first series of Stargirl. Some of it was expected, such as the gender politics and some of the personalities for the younger characters. However, these weren’t entirely forced down your throat in dialogue, more set design and wardrobes. Not all the dialogue or episodes hit the mark. There was a diverse amount of episodes, with different ideas and directing. Some episodes where slow and some fast. Some filled in and some added nothing. Some hooked you until the end and some where meh! However, for me, they kept me intrigued and interested. The sets and locations fit perfectly.
The costumes, for the most part, where brilliant (bar #Hourman, #DrMidnight and #WildCat). The characters (except for previously mentioned) where well rounded, thought out, with loads of depth and potential to grow.
The character of Courtney I though, really showed the character of the youth today. Strong headed, running into things, not fully listening and taking the hard road to learn, understand and grow, even if an adult is spelling it out for you.
I thought a lot of the series did a good job at holding a mirror up to many aspects of our society. Not only in characters, but story lines and arcs. The choreography and acting where on point and it kept you hooked until the end.
