Capitol Hwy Milepost 7. Just like SE Stark St, SW Capitol Hwy had mile markers to note distance to downtown. Placed sometime in the mid nineteenth century (probably), this milestone next to the Capitol Hill Library is the only known one remaining. Hello folks! It’s July in May! Time for more bike riding. And just reminding you that I’ve got a nice ride this weekend. Please join me on Sunday May 12th for the Stark Street Mileposts ride! We’ll meet at Stark Street Station, 6049 SE Stark St at 11 AM. We depart eastward at 11:30. This will be a tour of most of the extant mileposts along Stark, (from MP 4 eastward. These mileposts were placed during the mid-nineteenth century. Amazingly, more than half remain. We’ll wind our way off Stark mostly for about fifteen miles, ending at MP 14 at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham. This ride is definitely not a loop, but the MAX Blue Line is a couple miles away from the end. Yes, the planned #pedalpalooza rides keep on coming! On Sunday June 18, explore the remaining Stark Street Mileposts on an eastbound meander from MP 4 to 14. We'll meet at Stark Street Station at 11am (see map link) and depart at 11:30, so plenty of time to get food and drink from the cafe.
