For your warden 3,5 and 9 =)
3. What’s their personality like?
Moiraine, in the Circle, was always flirting, always skipping classes (usually to read in the library and teach herself, however), hated all authority, very stubborn, and escaped multiple times. She’s loud and always the center of attention around her friends. She’s very introspective, but can be immature and blind in certain areas (templars = evil, most vulnerable to pride demons). After becoming a Warden, she keeps most of these traits; she flirts often enough, however less so when she starts trying to adapt to how people act in the outside world (she and Zevran have flirting contests, but she won’t flirt with Leliana, for example, because she realizes what ‘leading her on’ would be). She’s still very loud - often sarcastic, and loves to get into a snark battle with someone (shale’s fun). She goes through the Blight mostly ruthlessly, and always unsure but willing to get things done. She always tries to make her decisions logically and with pragmatism (despite some slips). She doesn’t mind being morally gray, and has no honourable ideals about the Wardens. She learns to steal during the Blight both to feed them and get decent armor and doesn’t hold back at all, ending up with lots of extra gold. Murder doesn’t mean much to her by the end of things. She does mature a lot during the Blight and starts to be less blind.
5. How do they feel about becoming a warden?
At first she’s all for it, trying to get out of the Circle. She hated it there, and wanted freedom. Then once she’s out, travelling to Ostagar with Duncan, she heavily considers running, and figures at this point she could. She doesn’t, deciding that being on the run would be difficult, even were she to head to Tevinter, as long as the label “apostate” followed her. She decided to stay and join, seeing what the Wardens were like and then possibly running from them.
After Ostagar, sitting in Flemeth’s hut, she’s quite rude and wants to leave. It’s a mission doomed to fail, they’re certain to die, right? But even with that, however mean she was to Alistair at the time about how they should just leave the country, she stays because she really isn’t the heartless bastard she likes to think of herself as.
//Headcanon: after learning the truth about the archdemon, she preforms the ritual and kills the archdemon herself, using it to fake her death and avoid explaining to Weisshaupt (?). She leaves with Zevran and Dog secretly afterwards.
9. Who in the group was their best friend? Enemy? How did they feel about the others.
Dog was her best friend. Okay, that was a joke, but also really true. Her dog, Graeme, is actually extremely special to her. She has full conversations with him, and I headcanon the lifespan of a mabari as long enough for me not to have to write his death. They’re always together.
Zevran, her LI, or Morrigan would be her best friend. Zevran and her get along really well. She responds to his flirting quickly with equally horrible lines, and they get into contests. He starts telling her about his adventures and she has a love of stories, is immediately fascinated and always pesters him for more. After enough talks, they both start to trust each other - a bit. Zevran teaches her Antivan and poison-making, and they start to spar together in the evenings.
Morrigan and her have an intellectual relationship. They exchange knowledge of magic, and Moiraine’s open mindedness about types of magic she’s willing to learn - anything, barring sacrificial stuff - earns Morrigan’s respect and they often exchange spells. Morrigan teaches her to shapeshift into a raven, as well, so she finally starts to feel like the templars won’t catch her ever again, as she can just fly away. Moiraine takes a pragmatic approach to decision making that Morrigan appreciates, and vice-versa. They become sister-like.
As for her worst enemy, I would say Wynne. Moiraine was acquainted with her in the Circle, and never liked her. She takes her along because Moiraine can’t heal a scratch and it’s logical to have a healer, but the two never really earn each other’s respect or friendship. Moiraine hates authority figures, and hates being patronized, two things she sees up front in Wynne and won’t look past, even if it is her immaturity showing.
Shale, I’ve only played half a playthrough with Shale because her dlc was fussy and I just got it to work recently, but from what I can tell, Moiraine does earn her respect by being, well, open-minded about making friends with a rock. The two get into snark battles, from what I can tell.
Alistair and her have some problems. He’s a templar in her mind for quite a long time, and he isn’t fond of her ruthlessness/pragmatism. She can be quite rude in the beginning, but somewhere along the line, about when Alistair says he is Maric’s bastard, she doesn’t treat him any differently and he appreciates it. They call a truce and she starts to try and see him as a person. They end up getting along well enough, and joke with each other, but they’re never entirely comfortable. He helps open her mind slightly to the idea of not-so-bad templars, and that makes her uneasy, so she doesn’t get close to him.
At first, Leliana’s devoutness sets Moiraine off. She can be pretty rude to the faithful, and doesn’t consider herself Andrastian. This isn’t to say she doesn’t believe in the Maker, just that he isn’t worth her time and neither are Chantry folk. This lasts about three days before they figure out how to see past it and end up quite close. Moiraine was skeptical about Leliana’s vision, and always will be, but once Leliana stops talking about her faith, they find a shared love of stories - and pretty, girly things.
At first, Moiraine dismissed Sten because he was hard to deal with. She doesn’t like having to explain her every move in such a different way. After they duel in Haven, and she wins, he gives her more respect and she starts to appreciate that he makes jokes. They end up getting along quite well, and she finds Asala, and he names her Basalit-an.
She finds Oghren hilarious, and always responds to him with equally awful jokes. They get along really well and drink together often, and she works extremely hard to be able to down a mug of Dwarven ale - a useful thing when one wants to show off.
