“And I Never Went Back...”
The scream rang out and suddenly people were RUNNING for their lives. Sirens were BLARING to alert everyone that the ship had gone under critical damage. They were under attack and it wasn’t long before they would be blown to pieces. Baelfire watched as the Captain Vulcan-kissed his love and promised to return before gesturing for Baelfire to follow and disappearing, leaving Bae and Flynn alone. They didn’t have time to properly say goodbye, but that hey had enough time to make a wordless promise that they would return together in due time.
After the ship jerked VIOLENTLY once more, Bae’s eyes widened in panic. He quickly grabbed Flynn’s face and kissed him. He kissed him so deeply and PASSIONATELY that one swore it might have knocked them over.
–Then it was over as quickly as it began.
Chocolate hues met chocolate hues as Baelfire looked up into Flynn’s eyes for what felt like the last time.
“I promise, I’ll come back. We have our communicators so we can stay in contact!”
“Bae..” Flynn gently rested his hand on Bae’s cheek as he looked into his eyes. “We will hold each other soon. I just know it.”
Then I’ll follow you into the dark…
And just like Kirk, Baelfire was gone into the ship. To be AWAY from Flynn in a time like this.. It hurt.. It hurt him badly. Baelfire was worried if he would be okay, but he was even more worried if FLYNN would be okay. Equally, as worried, phaser outstretched was Jim, who was doing his best to keep his fear LOCKED tight inside. Fear may be the heart of love, but that didn’t mean he had to show it during a time like this.
Seconds turned into minutes which turned into an agonizing hour. Bae and Jim were darting between hidden space to hidden space in hopes of keeping themselves alive.
–Then they hit a dead end.
Blue eyes widened as Kirk looked at the wall then looked at the kid next to him as his chest rose and fell in panic. They were trapped.
“I-Is there no way out!?” Bae asked, pushing against the metal, fear filling him.
“I’m.. Afraid not. “ Kirk could HEAR the footsteps of his enemy drawing near as his ship took another violent jolt. “We have to stand and fight, kid.”
“But I’m not ready too- “ Kirk put his hand on the boy’s shoulder, looking down at him into his eyes. The image made Bae miss Han even more. Han used to do this to him.. a lot.. and as much as he wanted to cry thinking about Han, crying wouldn’t get him the possibility to see him again. Or Flynn.
“Show me what that Dad of yours taught you. I know it was a lot, and it was something note worthy. Now let me see it.” He handed Baelfire his spare phaser, before standing up straight. “Us fighting is the only way we will get to see anyone again. Do you understand me?”
“I..I understand.” He said, trying to sound brave. His small fingers CLUTCHED the phaser in his hands tight as he heard a ring FLOODING the air from his pocket.
Bae’s heart fluttered in his chest. He was okay! He was alive.. And if he was okay then that meant.. That meant things were getting better. “Flynn?!”
“Bae-! Are you alright? And Father? Where are you?”
“I don’t know where we are but we hit a dead end! There are people coming and– “ Tears filled his eyes as he clutched the communicator TIGHTER into his small hands. “I-I’m scared, Flynn..”
Sky blue hues sharply widened as he watched shadows of the enemy draw near.
Though the words were simply a DISTANT memory.. They were words he wished that he could utter to Spock now.. But he can’t… And he didn’t know if he ever would again.
“They’re almost all gone, Bae. We just.. We have a few more. It will be okay! I-I’m scared too.. and so is Father. It is almost over. ”
Right and left beams FLEW across the room. Baelfire ducked down quickly before firing his own phaser. He was now fighting for not only his life, but Flynn’s.. Han’s.. and Luke’s.
On the other end the firing of weapons could be of the call but not Bae talking or Jim..
–Only the sounds of people fighting for their lives.
There was nothing but shots being fired and then one that critically hit its target.
“CAPTAIN! NO!!” Baelfire screamed, tears rushing to his eyes as he watched the man who became like a second father to him drop LIMP to the ground.
“Baelfire!? Baelfire what’s wrong!? What’s happening!?” Flynn spoke worriedly into the communicator, but there was no answer just more firing.
“Baelfire?! BAE!? FATHER?! ANYONE WHAT’S HAPPENING?!”
Bae was kneeling beside the Captain now, watching death stare him straight in the face as he cried over his third parent. Trembling hands lifted the communicator to his lips as he looked up at the person holding the weapon aimed directly at Bae’s head.
“Yes.. Yes Bae? Bae, I’m here?!”
TSSSSSSSSSSSSSCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~
“Baelfire? BAELFIRE?!” Flynn looked back at his Father worried sick. Bae wasn’t answering which meant something had happened to him. Spock was no different.. He could feel it through their bond.. Kirk was hurt and he was hurt BADLY but he desperately tried to stay just a little bit possitive.. For his mate’s sake.
“Please be alright, Ashal… Please..”
As they final fighting ended, crew went to discover the other members of their crew for medical care. Various reports flew in but not one of them was the one Spock was specifically waiting for. And then it came.. and Flynn was already flying down the hall.
Love of mine.. Someday you will die…
“Engineering to Bridge. Mister Spock?”
“Sir.. You better get down here… Better hurry.”
As quick as a FLASH Spock took off after his son. They were going to the same place for the same people.
–The one’s they love more than ANYTHING in the world.
PAINFUL flashbacks flew across Spock’s vision as he grew closer and closer to the place where he was desperately hoping to find his beloved. He had been through this once before and that time he was WATCHING Jim die… He couldn’t go through that again.. He just couldn’t.
--And then came the SNAP.
When Spock reached his son who had already stopped running he didn’t want to believe what he saw and neither did his son. To the right… The Captain.. Motionless.. Breathless…
And to the left.. The floppy haired, starry- eyed boy in the same state as the Captain… And just out of his grasp…
Father and son knelt beside their departed loved ones, releasing any and all emotions they felt. Screams of ANGUISH, tears of heartbreak… and empty apologies as other’s watched in sadness father and son..
–Once whole… now forever following their loves into the dark…
