My mom's mormon church is really in to family history too. Do you think all of it is bs??

I definitely don’t think all of their genealogical information is hogwash. It’s just that I know for a fact that on the LDS family history site, going down the same line as the church leader I’m related to, I allegedly descend from historical figures such as Alfred the Great and Yaroslav the Wise, and even semi-mythical people who were the first leaders of Scottish clans and stuff but might not have actually existed. And I’m pretty sure that isn’t correct, and it would be awfully convenient if all the leaders descended from famous leaders, wouldn’t it?

So I don’t trust my family history on that site past a few centuries for that reason. In the case of most regular people, however, I’m pretty sure the history’s pretty accurate. There’s no real reason to embellish or blemish regular folks’ family lines.
