I think Miss Fey is who she needs right now.” “And why not us? When did we stop being enough?!” “We didn't, Angel, you know that. Something happened. Something that we didn't see. Besides, what about her kid sister? Miss Fey has experience with that. If it all went South do you think we'd be any help?” “Why do you keep making up excuses?!” “...” He sighed. “I miss her, Angel.” “... I do too, but this isn't going to change anything. She gave up.” “Lana Skye? Lana Skye gave up? She was the biggest dreamer of us all. Something crushed her hope for the future.” “But she didn't have to give up. One of these days I'm going to show her just she gave up on. We could help, Marshall. But she gave up on us, too.” “...” He sighed again. “We'll make it work. Something has to give, you know as well as I do. It'll work out.”

She knew he was lying. He knew she knew it. What was their hope worth? Nothing could go back to how it was.

“You'd better get on with your rounds if you want to keep all of those boyfriends of yours. They might start to think I've caught your favor.” “To hell with them...” She stood up to leave anyway. At the very least those boxes ought to be refrigerated. “Don't stay out so late tonight. And don't forget our date this Saturday.” “When have I ever forgotten a date?”
