Animalympics (Animated Film) Review!
Animalympics is a film from the 80s about the lives of Olympic Athletes - which wouldn't normally be very interesting to me - but it's animated and they're all furries!
It is a full length movie presented in the same format as a real-life sports broadcast would be - a variety of host characters move from sport to sports, showing us footage of the athletes, as well as sharing their stories and interviews. In between all of the shorter segments there is also a continuing story about a goat and a lioness who are perfectly matched runners, competing in a multiple day marathon run against each-other!
Thankfully, rather than just run of the mill realistic sports, every segment is full of cute character designs, funny gags and delightfully silly animal puns. The character designs are all quite cute, the animation is smooth and the backgrounds are very nice. The soundtrack is also quite a standout, and there's a great deal of lovely visual effects as well, such as the glitter and shine that accompanies the title card of each sport segment.
Like many films from the 80s, there is unfortunately the occasional insensitive "fat joke" or racial stereotype, or men being creepy towards women, but thankfully for the most part the films humor consists of pretty harmless slapstick and puns. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves furry animation or animation in general. It's quite a cute watch, and the soundtrack is dazzling as well!
Now, enjoy some more screenshots!

A brown eagle from Hungary who's a competitive fencer. After her friend Duke Chardas was defeated by the pompous and cheating Boar-Deaux, she flew in and interrupted the podium ceremony to call out Boar for having gone too far, and engaged him in a fencing duel. Upon defeating him, she received 100 points and the gold metal while Boar was disqualified, and she proudly left the arena. Though a little vain herself, she clearly values fair fights, and doesn't look kindly upon cheaters and poor sports.

Roger Allers, what a career. An incredibly versatile animation figure who helped shape plenty of noteworthy features, especially if it had lions.
Allers is now up in the stars where the great kings of the past reside. A legend we'll surely miss, but a legacy we won't forget.
