Come hang out and talk about Toriko!!! I just finished making the server so right now there's like zero people in it LOL but I'm trying to get more people to join!!
Boosting again… we just got out of disboard review purgatory and I shared the link on Reddit also so hopefully that gets the server some traction. We also got two new members (wow)! The link is set to never expire (unless I make it so that it isn’t) so it should be good from a tech standpoint
- Hanzo does pottery making as a hobby. Inspired by advice to use coping skills for his anger, he found this one - he’s very bad at it and his pieces come out looking very weird but he’s devoted 😌
- Kuai Liang disappears for months at a time and sometimes longer. It’s not strange for him to do this and he’s known to do this routinely. The Lin Kuei have faith that he will come back safe eventually.
- Outworlders are fascinated by Earthrealm firearms and weaponry. People in Earthrealm who don’t use them tend to look down on it, seeing the need for ammunition / the fact that bullets run out as “needing a handicap.”
- Hanzo historically has bad run-ins with the police in his area and dislikes them. From an outsider’s perspective, the Shirai Ryu vanished “mysteriously” and Hanzo is a key suspect in the case.
- Although Kuai and Bi-Han’s family has cryomancy heritage, Sektor’s family is a pretty famous part of the triads and considerably powerful around the region. They invest back in the Lin Kuei and in any of their relatives running businesses around the area.
- Both Lin Kuei brothers are able to pretend to be the other in presentation and in battle. They used to be able to do it on command or when the situation arises.
“Sub-Zero, were you and Bi-han close?” Takeda mused. “I’ve never had a brother before. What’s it like?”
Hanzo looked curiously at Kuai Liang. He himself had questioned the nature of the Sub-Zero brothers’ relationship years prior, back when his relationship with Kuai Liang was more hostile. “Attachments are supposed to be forbidden in the Lin Kuei,” he sneered. “Were you and Bi-han even that close? And yet you so stubbornly fight for his honor at the risk of your own life?”
Of course, back then Kuai Liang refused to give him any insight into the matter. It was beyond something he could ever understand, especially considering who the man they were fighting about was.But now with the both of them seeing things in a different context, the question still lingered in the back of his mind.
“…I’m not sure if the relationship between Bi-han and I was, by any means, conventional.” Kuai mused. “I have no means of comparison of what a ‘normal’ life would look like. If you had a brother Takeda, I’m sure it would be very different.”
Kuai Liang paused as if to think. Or was he actually hesitating?
“To answer your first question Takeda, I would say Bi-han and I were like your left hand and your right hand.” Kuai Liang said. Takeda looked at his palms before Kuai continued, “I’m sure you never consciously think about the fact that you have a second hand, do you? They perform tasks and act as one. Despite this, there’s still a dominant hand - one that you’d subconsciously rely on more than the other.”
Hanzo supposed from what he knew about the Lin Kuei, the “dominant” hand Kuai Liang’s talking about is supposed to be Bi-han, the one who was picked and trained as the first heir to the Sub-Zero mantle over his brother.
“…We could operate independently and were encouraged to. Even so, if you suddenly lost either one of your hands, you would notice the absence of that hand wouldn’t you? That’s what it’s like.”
The left and the right hand. Perhaps it’s just a matter of perspective but when Kuai Liang describes it like that, Hanzo couldn’t help but think that they didn’t sound very close at all.
