John looked around as the impala pulled into town. "Dean. Find a diner."
Dean nodded, pulling out his phone, mumbling a little to himself. He glanced around, then back to his phone. "Two blocks up. On the right."
John didn't respond. He just kept driving, glancing at Sam in the mirror but not saying anything. He pulled into the parking lot, taking a spot near the door. The men climbed out of the car.
But Sam wasn't paying attention. He was busy wondering why he could see the details on the trees over there, so far away. It was always something, whatever he'd noticed that set him apart from his family. And it was always weird.
And it was definitely related to the fact that he couldn't use magic.
John banged his fist on the roof of the car. "Sam!"
Sam jumped, blinking a few times. He got out of the impala, keeping his eyes down. "Sorry, sir."
John didn't even address him. He just turned, leading his sons into the diner and over to a table. They all sat down in silence.

The sky goes dark and it startles her, but not as much as opening her eyes and finding herself strapped to a lab table.
No, no, no, this can’t be real, this can’t be happening, as she sees people in white coats passing by, making notes and flipping through pages on clipboards. Her eyes dart to her left, seeing the medical instruments beside her--
“Ah, you’re awake,” one of them says, and she looks to him, panicking. “Good, good, just in time.”
No, no, no--

"No, I'm not going crazy, yes, the nightmares have stopped, yes, Nova is keeping an eye on me," Sam sighed into his phone, rubbing his forehead. "Bobby, I'm fine. It's been four months. That's more than twice as long than we let ourselves grieve over Dad. I'm fine." He rolled his eyes and glanced over at Nova, shaking his head. "I gotta go. I have to check in with Melinda and Sylvia before they kill me."
He quickly hung up and put the phone down. He'd already called the girls to check in, he just wanted Bobby to stop treating him like a child. Sighing heavily, he rubbed his eyes. "At this rate I'm gonna be putting whiskey in my coffee."

Sam ran his hands through his hair, trying to tame it without needing to actually brush it out. He looked around. He was still surprised sometimes that he'd been able to get the place, especially on a hunter's lack of a salary. But there he was, in a place of his own, with Nova having moved in, and life was good.
Except for the monster hunting, anyway, but there wasn't much he could do about that. Once you're in the life... Other than that, though, life was good.
The wizard hummed to himself, walking over to Nova. "Wow. Either the sun rose twice in one day, or that's the radiance of my wonderful, amazing girlfriend, who I would be nothing without."
