On the works living or dying based on their ending, what about things like doctor who? That doesn’t really have an ending, and never will, but you watch and enjoy it regardless. This isn’t intended as a gotcha, so much as curiosity.

as i'm constantly saying, doctor who is an anthology show in all but name. there's satisfying arcs and throughlines sometimes, but with few exceptions, i firmly believe almost any good doctor who story can be watched and enjoyed as a self-contained adventure without any but the most basic, premise-level context "this is a show abotu an alien travelling in time with his blue box spaceship"

Honestly the fandom is so gargantuan and venerable that I have no idea what counts as a hot take and am vaguely intimidated at the idea of trying to guess. (At least in my immediate circle I've pretty sure disliking Xander and thinking Faith got done dirty aren't exactly hot takes?)

Okay, uh, not even close to a hot take but - having Xander just, not get into/go to college is a really interesting choice? And one that would absolutely not get made today given the usual social class and upbringing of professional writers.

I agree that Pokemon should have skip cutscene buttons, because all games should have those because not everyone’s playing for the story, but personally Sun/Moon was the most I was invested in the story of a (main) Pokémon game ever, lol.

I do like Sun and Moon’s story but god. Replaying that game runs the threat of breaking your B Button.

And yeah, like, a skip cutscene button is so standard in games at this point, Pokemon needs it badly. Even Kingdom Hearts lets you skip its cutscenes.

I’m officially desperate enough: do you have any fic recommendations of long/decent size fanfics that you’d recommend that are: a. Lawlight and b. focus very little on sex? I’m not necessarily asking for sexless fics but ones that I could read without having to skip massive portions just to escape the smut? Ive lowered my internal standards enough that I’ll accept ‘at least 5 chapters between sex’ as relatively sexless. Please help out your local asexual? ;^-^;

Haha, I agree that there is a bit of a lack of Lawlight that isn’t smutty, at least when I was reading it regularly (haven’t been keeping up with new fics for the past year or two, though).

I think @misas-biggest-fan has written a few DN fics, some featuring Lawlight, and most (if not all?) not featuring smut? I haven’t read them because I’m super lazy about reading new fic now, but I bet they’re very good bc they’re by mbf!!

Also, have you read “Seeking His Hand” by Magic__Mind yet? I think sex scenes might be planned for the future, but that so far it’s been a long and romantic slow-burn regency AU type fic, and a lot of people love it and say that it’s really well-written as well:

I know this is weird, but I only just now realized, by looking at your blog title, that it's supposed to be read as 'Tyrant is Terror' and have been reading it this whole time as 'Tyrantis Terror', like... Tyrannosaurus + Mantis = Tyrantis. Just thought you should know

It’s actually meant to be read as both - Tyrantis is my oldest OC, and the star of my latest novel.  I’ve been writing about him on the internet for a while, and years ago I made “tyrantisterror” my username on, uh, a lot of shit in reference to that.

In college, I e-mailed one of literature professors with my non-student e-mail account for some reason I forgot, and she said, “That’s an interesting e-mail address you have there - is it a reference to something?”  and that’s when I realized “Tyrantis Terror” could be read as “Tyrant is terror,” which is actually a pretty badass line on its own, so I made the title display that way on tumblr as a sort of private joke with myself.
