Charlie was never the biggest fan of having to go to new places that already consisted of lots of dogs and a “social” group that he called them, of multiple dogs already knowing each other and kind of figuring out who does what in different parts of cities. It was more a thing he found with dogs that had turned to lives of crime, but every once in a while he would come across dogs that were just friends and actually somehow controlled some parts of a city. That wasn’t always the case, but he had to stay wary of things like that, especially when he had to be a guardian angel for a kid in cities in general.
That was why he was here in this new town, to help a kid. That being said, that was always the case with stuff like this, it was rarely a thing of him having to go on missions, it was more he was reliable to help kids after he had proved himself with some others in the past. He was one of the very few that had a true change in heart, now actually caring about others and not just the money or himself. That was a good thing though, because if he still did care that much about himself or money, he would have died for good by now, but he had changed his ways instead.
This town, from the looks of it, wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t exactly huge by any standards, but there was a lot of nice homes, nice shops and restaurants, and a lot of light, which he enjoyed. He hated dealing with places that had little to no light at all, especially if he ran into other dogs, which he usually did. He was sometimes invisible, until he found the kid at least, but recently he had begun to grow a bit more risky with it and was visible to all, just appearing as a normal hound with a watch around his neck. That was the only thing that put him off from being a normal dog in the first place. But, if he did run into other dogs, many of them wouldn’t care about that and just assume he was roaming around, trying to find food or something.
Which is what he hoped would happen with this new dog he had run into.
He tried to be extra careful when it came to running into dogs and this was no different, except he had a collar already around his neck and seemed to actually have an owner. That was different, usually he didn’t run into dogs that had homes. Was usually strays that he had issues with. That didn’t stop him from being a little bit more aggressive and pissed off than normal.
❝You have an entire sidewalk off to your right there and you decide the best course of action was to run into me?❞ he asked with a small growl and rolled his eyes, ❝I thought dogs would have been better than that in New Haven, would have guessed you guys to know about walking by now.❞
How this dog responded was how long Charlie was going to keep this charade up. To be honest, he didn’t expect for him to do it too long with someone like this. But, he still did have a job to do and he wasn’t about to let anyone find out who he was or what he was doing in the first place. Again, all kind of relied on how he responded to Charlie and his slightly aggressive words.
