Thoughts on the new western quest (as an irl equestrian)
1. Things first: Whoever wrote the dialogue needs a raise! Finally there were no silly puns - yes, they are part of SSOs style, and some are camp bit I find that they often make the characters more shallow. It’s nice to have silly characters like James, but especially with older teens or tweens, it’s refreshing to have characters who have the MOST REALISTIC equestrian conversations: Who are you and your horse, how did you meet, what are your ambitions, etc.
2. The characters felt extremely realistic - due to mentioned dialogues, their equine partners and different philosophies about riding. Wanda doubting herself and her riding philosophy were peak!! and I‘m interested in watching them grow as a club. I hope we get to see that!
A common problem I‘ve been noticing tho is that SSO no longer uses unique character models for NPS (like Josh, Ranya, Mr Peterson, etc), but simply the MCs character models and clothimg. That makes them a lot kess distinguishable, which is fine for NPCs the lunging girl, but these three seem to have potential to be actual characters :(.
3. Bob cats mentioned! A lot of quests have felt kinda isolated lately, small things like this tie it to the rest of Jorvik.
4. The trail ride was cute and again, grabbing some water for it felt like realistic preparations.
5. Finally a new race at SSR! Yay!
