EDEN’s welcome cameo on ILLENIUM’s Leaving the other day served as a powerful reminder of how much we missed the Irish singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who’s been crushing our hearts and leaving us reeling with his emotive music since his days as THE EDEN PROJECT. So when new song “start//end” surfaced today, we couldn’t be more content. 21 year old talent Jonathan Ng sweeps us straight off our feet again with his emotionally charged, poignantly quivering voice, as well as his cinematic sweeping, panoramic soaring electronica & hip hop. Expertly sewing together strings, beats, and synths, EDEN creates a tapestry of sound to take us on a soul searching journey with his spectacular song. “start//end” is one of his most ornate compositions, with hauntingly discordant tones and fluttering layers of fine elements. Its intricacy can be traced to the collage-like method with which EDEN assembled the song. He fused together fragments he’d collected on tour. The song comes with a video which Ng directed, filmed, and edited himself after shooting across London, Tokyo, Seoul, Los Angeles, New York, Belgium, and around his home in Dublin. When it comes to what some call “post-EDM”, there’s few who can rival EDEN’s talent, except of course, Lido. “start//end” is available, here.
