Day 2 of the Star Trek Creativity Event!

It’s easy to look at the Captain of the ISS Malibu and think, “She doesn’t belong here.” You’d even be excused if you laughed upon realizing the ship you’d be serving. 

I mean… just look at her. 

Captain Roberts, or Barbie as she insists you call her, is a joke. Smiling brightly with a pep in her step, she walks around her ship in these garish pink attires, like she isn’t surrounded by people who’d assassinate her to rise the ranks.

Of course, it’s hard not to be affected by her lighthearted personality. She’s eager to talk to you, to get to know you, to get to know your hopes and ambitions. At first, you know better. Tiptoeing around the topic as to not reveal too much about yourself. It gets to you after a while. When was the last time someone spoke to you with such affection? Friendliness? All she wants is for you to do your best. 

But, unlike her, you’re only human. She doesn’t care about that though. She’s Barbie! She can do anything and surely you must be the same. She allows no room for error. Everything must be flawless. Nothing less. She can tear you down just as she built you up. It seems to amuse her. Seeing you break after giving you hope. It’s best to simply do as she says. You don’t want to upset someone with so much knowledge as she does. Not with the  woman who has been a doctor, an engineer, a helmsman, so on and so forth…. 

It’s good for the Empire that she’s content playing Captain. It’s why the Empire lets her have her fun. Why she’s allowed to have her pink uniforms and her Malibu ship. So just keeping smiling and do your best. Your life depends on it.
