"I didn't—" How the hell was he supposed to have known to ask?? Steven has to stop and take a deep breath. His head bows, one hand reaching up to pinch at the bridge of his nose. As frustrated as he is, it won't do any good taking it out on Diana. Once he feels a bit calmer, he looks up at her again. "Diana, are you sure that's a good idea? The gods, being an avatar...it's not all it's cracked up to be. I don't want Thoth manipulating you like..." Like Khonshu had manipulated Marc. But Diana was also an adult; Steven didn't get to make her choices for her.

That wasn't going to keep him from worrying, though.

Jake barreled through the doors of the library, not bothering with subtlety. He didn’t bother masking as Steven, either—the time for nuance was over; they were all in danger, including Diana. Harrow’s people had finally realized he was the one that’d killed the man and had decided on revenge. They’d noticed that Steven had grown close to Diana, and Jake would eat his hat if they didn’t plan to use that against the system, to make her suffer just to hurt them; Jake wasn’t about to let that happen—not on his watch.

Ignoring the angry and insistent voices of Marc and Steven—‘You killed him?!’ ‘Oh, Jake...’ ‘We left him alive for a reason, you asshole! You can’t just—’ ‘What about Diana? Jake, it's too dangerous for her with us!’ Yeah, needless to say they weren’t exactly pleased—he stormed through the building until he found Diana. No matter what they thought, Jake knew he was right; she would be safest with them, where he could keep an eye on her. “We’re leaving,” he ordered, leaving no room for argument as he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her along with him. “Drop the books, cariño, y toma el ritmo, we're outta time.”
