We are hard at work in Shenzhen in mainland China. We are here to do a pre-production run of our hardware and meeting all the guys (and girls) at our factory who help us make Sensorist happen!
Video and photography are strictly forbidden in the factory because they do production for a lot of different companies, but we got the operation manager to shoot some photos and video for us that got approved for our use, and here is the first little video.
The first step is applying solder paste to the PCB boards. Each board consists of multiple Sensorist UI boards. This is a sticky compound of flux and solder components. These covered boards then go to the pick-and-place machine, which then places all the electronic components at the right place. The component stays on the PCB because of the sticky paste. In the next step, the board and un-soldered components go through the reflow oven, and as they travel through, the oven is heated. This heat melts the soldering paste and after cooling all the parts, are soldered to the PCB. After this, the boards get cut into the individual UI boards and they are ready for the assembly process where the electronic meets the enclosure.
We will try to update as much as possible from here for the rest of the week, but the internet connection is not the best, and we have plenty of work to do!
