Here is the style frame for my painted reveal. A fan graphic for Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption.
The style frame and the motion test was composed of these three images in the centre.
A ‘background-less,’ in-game image of the game’s protagonist, John Marston taking aim; obtained from a Playstation-related website. This image has been edited in Photoshop for a stylised appearance. A ‘gradient map’ has been applied to replace all hues and shades with only red; whites and blacks; a known aesthetic among graphics related to Red Dead Redemption. Some curve adjustments were also made to add contrast to the lighting and shading of the character.
A photograph of a desert landscape, reminiscent to the environments featured in Red Dead Redemption. A gradient map was also added to fit the style of the game’s stylised graphic imagery. However, unlike the character, no whites were applied to the photograph’s gradient map to allow the character to better stand out from the background, which the photograph serves as within the graphic.
The official Red Dead Redemption logo, with no background. No modifications made.
The style frame and general aesthetic of the graphic itself are inspired by the ‘title card’ that appears before the game’s end credits in the final story mission of the game, as well as the game’s cover art as seen in the two bottommost images.
