Starward Rogue Gets AuGMENTED With Lots of New Items, Areas, Enemies, Everything!
Hard to believe that it's been over a year already, since players first got to experience Arcen Games' blend of roguelike, bullethell, mech... thing... in space. Plenty to do, see, shoot and collect, and with the recently released AuGMENTED expansion, Starward Rogue is bigger and better than ever.

Starward Rogue: AuGMENTED expansion launch date
Starward Rogue: AuGMENTED is the new expansion and we have the release date for Linux, Mac and Windows gaming via Steam. Well the games expansion also coming to Humble Store. While the developer Arcen Games' robot-blasting roguelite set to launch in two weeks. So obviously the expansion requires the base game. Starward Rogue will be able to get the expansion with a small investment. Since Arcen Games want to keep the hype alive without breaking the bank. But first... the trailer.

AuGMENTED is Starward Rogue, but bigger and better. Also coated with gold. So expect the newly added Gold Floors to mysteriously appear throughout your run. While rare enemies, unique treasures await those who can overcome the challenges within. This is a significant update and expansion to the base game.

Wait, I thought we were talking about Starward Rogue? Yeah, but my chief screw-up this time happened in relation to Stars Beyond Reach. You may recall that in early October we decided to push that game back until Q2 2016, citing burn-out on the game and being creatively stagnant, etc. That was after pushing the game back repeatedly, first from May to July, and then to late September.
When we started on Stars Beyond Reach, we were relatively cash-rich. We had over $200k in the bank, solid monthly income, and I was feeling my oats. It was time for that big awesome 4X game I’d always been wanting to make. What better time, right? People had been asking us to do a true 4X for years, too, and now we were finally ready.
What happened next is complicated, and the details are somewhat up for debate. However you look at it, though, it’s my fault. Basically I overreached with the design, is the simplest way to put it. We spent a TON of time in R&D mode, and then went to beta, and found out how much the early versions kinda sucked. So we did more. And more. And more. And it got better with every iteration. The game was becoming fun, inch by inch.

OH RIGHT I think I might have completely forgotten to post this here. This is what that game dev sent me a week odd amount ago. It’s so much fun, like The Binding of Isaac meets Nuclear Thrown in space kinds of fun. I’d highly recommend it, esp. since it has consistently glowing reviews on steam and poor sales relative to what the developers, specifically Arcen Games, usually see for their releases. Go give it a look!
