It hard not to be inspired by the beautiful horticultural heritage that are now relics in Wistaria Gardens. Whilst designed for the Cumberland Hospital Superintendent, around his residence Glengarriff in 1906 and completed by 1907 the Federation style Gardens are almost unique and State Heritage Listed. They have been diminishing and starved of appropriate funding, quality management and restorative renewal in recent decades and specifically in recent years whilst transfer between @newsouthwaleshealth and @parrapark has been tragically delayed. Awesomely Loved by the community the Sakura experience needs to return as a priceless Parramatta Spring celebration. Photos captured by Graham Shirley highlight the Cherry, Peach, Plum and Almond Blossoms, with Wistaria surviving on a few arbor and railings. The usually magnificent annual flower beds have been missing for three years and many other flower beds, roses and feature plants and trees have been removed since 1990s. - photos kindly supplied by @grash321 #wistaria #wisteria #wistariagardenssince1906 #cumberlandhospital #stateheritage #horticulturetherapy #springflowers #gardensofinstagram #sakura #cherryblossom #floweringpeach #dwarfplum #almondflowers #wisteriavine #afternoonlight #wideformat #atparramatta #parramatta (at Wistaria Gardens since 1906) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFl1vzvj1B4/?igshid=k5umytl86u24
