Not watching Arrow, just felt vaguely ill around the time it's supposed to air. Oh, there's a gif of Arrow and the thought is just kill them. When have the male characters died to "further the story"? Sebastian Blood, Yao Fei, Tommy Merlyn died. Yao Fei died so that Shado lived, who died ridiculously. Tommy died so Laurel and Oliver regretted getting together, supposedly Oliver to stop killing. If he killed Malcolm, no one would set off the device or if Tommy could pull the trigger.

I'm really confused about the point of this ask, I'm not going to lie. Is it to remind me that men die in storylines to further the plot, too? Because nobody ever denied that. Does it make me as angry? No. Is that unfair? I don't know, is it fair that less than 33% of speaking roles in movies go to women and women STILL have a higher chance of being killed off solely to inspire angst in a dude? And that's not even getting into other marginalized types, like LGBTQA characters and POC. There's a whoooooole screwed up system out there, and it favors the "default," which movies and TV and books do their damndest to tell us is the white male. 

As my friend andymcnope put it, men get to live through mirakuru poisonings and fractured knees and getting shot by their mothers.

Women die in alleyways by dumpsters like trash. Arrow writers, I would STRONGLY urge you to take a minute and look at your choices.

Because here's a hint: they fucking suck.

Ugh. Don't come on my dashboard ever with "At least her death had meaning" shit. Her death won't have meaning. These are the same hacks that gave us Instagram Shado and fridged two characters in the space of one season.

THEY DON'T DESERVE A PASS AND WE SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM ONE.
