The day was turning out beautifully. Warm and sunny with just enough clouds in the blue sky to make it picturesque and not overbearingly hot.
You were swaying gently on the porch swing Jinnie and Binnie installed a week ago. After they noticed you liked to spend time on the porch just enjoying your surroundings.
The porch had a beautiful view of the surrounding forest and the sky. And usually had a nice light breeze to brush over your skin and rustle your hair instilling a natural sense of calm.
Plus, you could watch your pack frolic and play in the grass in their wolf forms on nice days like this.
Today it was Chan, Minnie, Innie and Hannie playing a wolf form of tag. You suspected the Alpha and Betas used this ‘play time’ to secretly train you to hide and track, but they always denied it.
Lino was sitting on the porch steps watching the mayhem like you, his phone forgotten in his hand but opened to whatever app he had been on before getting distracted.
Jinnie and Lix were actually out in the woods today looking for wild herbs that Jinnie liked to use in his medicines. He was still teaching Lixie and apparently today was about identification. For his part, Lix seemed to really enjoy learning it all. Or he liked spending time with Jinnie. Probably both.
Almost like he knew you were thinking deeply about your new pack and family, Lino reached out and loosely wrapped a hand around your ankle, rubbing the bone there softly while still watching the others play. Just looking for a bit of contact with you. The warmth of the action and his hand filled you and made you smile softly. You were so thankful you had trusted him all that time ago and let him help Innie.
A couple minutes later Bin joined you on the swing, slightly sweaty and relaxed.
Careful not to dislodge Lino, you bodily forced Binnie to shift and move so you could comfortably cuddle against him. He let himself be moved with amusement clear on his face, used to it after all this time.
With the comfort and warmth of Binnie behind you, and the feel of Linos hand around your ankle, you fell into a nice pre doze. Not quite sleep, but not quite awake. The sounds of play and birds lulling you just as much as Binnies steady breathing.
So, several minutes later, the new sound of a car coming down their long driveway was jarring enough to jolt you into sitting up and whipping around.
Everyone was immediately on high alert, shifting human and standing up to be ready for the unknown and unwelcome visitor.
Channie and Hannie quickly ushed Minnie and Innie onto the porch behind Lino. They both stood together by the front door, Innie looking wary and Minnie looking tense. Understandably you were wary of strangers, given how most of the world treated Omegas like you and your brothers.
Binnie moved to stand beside Lino and you followed to half hide behind him, wanting the comfort of being close to him. Every eye there tracked a small white car as it parked.
A short, stout woman stepped out of the vehicle, a clipboard in hand with several papers on it filled with markings. Her eyes roved over each of them in turn, eyes cataloging everything without reserve.
“Can we help you?” Channie asked in Alpha mode. A deeper, sterner voice that you rarely heard. His whole stance was different in this mode. Firmer, steadier, ready for action at a moment’s notice, yet warning not to try anything. It let you know that the situation was indeed a serious situation. It wasn’t your imagination and fear making you think the worst. The cold, no nonsense voice made an extra jolt of cold run through you, setting adrenaline going to your legs in case you needed to bolt.
The woman’s eyes landed and stayed on him. “If you remember, I am from the Omega Protection Agency –“ The woman began.
“We remember. I removed our pack from your waitlist.”
Her eyes flared at the interruption. “Yes. After receiving a poor inspection result you suddenly found four Omegas. It raised quite a few red flags.”
“It has nothing to do with your agency.” Bin snapped more than annoyed with seeing this inspector again.
“It is enough of a concern to require a welfare check on the situation. Our agency protects Omegas – all Omegas not just the ones we foster.”
“We are fine. We don’t need or want your help.” Minnie spoke up. He still stood as far from the unknown woman as possible.
The woman leaned so she could see Minne around Lino and Binnie. “Regardless, I will be doing another inspection today to determine if this is a safe environment for you.”
“So, our opinion doesn’t matter?”
“Not in this situation, no. You could be coerced or threatened into saying you are okay.” She started jotting things down on her clipboard.
“We aren’t threatening them!” Lino growled, fists balled.
You move slightly so you were between Lino and Binnie, reaching out to grip a handful of his shirt. It was more to comfort him than to hold him back or warn him, but you didn’t want Innie any closer and you knew seeing Lino upset would upset him. You didn’t want Innie to come closer to the woman to comfort him. Having the youngest get closer would only raise everyone’s stress levels.
“And what do you plan to do if you deem it unsafe here?” Alpha Chan asked. You dreaded the answer but looked at the woman and waited for the answer.
The woman met his eyes with a blank look. “I will remove them and place them in our Omega foster care.”
Minnie and Binnie both growled and Innie made a choking noise. You would be separated from your pack. Separated from each other. You may never see your Alpha, Betas, or brothers ever again. And after you finally found your forever pack with Stray Kids.
Half turning you give Min a subtle half nod, a code meant for only him and Innie. Min immediately disappeared inside the house without a word, understanding what he needed to do.
You caught Alpha Chans curious side eye, but he didn’t ask and you didn’t offer an explanation.
“So you claim to be all about Omegas, but disregard anything we say or want.” You conclude. “Ripping us from our packs and families.” You couldn’t keep the venom from your voice at the hypocrisy.
“Sometimes Omegas are unable to say or know what they need and want.”
You laugh humorlessly, hands beginning to shake from the adrenaline of the situation and getting ready.
Before you could respond all heads turned as Mins howl reached them, calling for Felix and signaling danger to their brother in the woods.
“Y/n – “ Bin began, but you cut him off, needing to buy some time for Lix to get to the house from wherever he was.
“You are no better than the cruel Alphas and Betas out there. You still think of us as less – as unable! Your way just forces Omegas into a nicer looking cage.” You accuse as Felixs answering howl was heard. “This is our home. Our family. And we aren’t about to let you separate us.”
With that said, you spin around and away from Bins reach as he realized you were planning something.
You shove Innie through the front door and towards the basement, your only thought getting you and your brothers to the panic room and secured inside.
“Ayen!” Lino called after you, but neither of you stopped.
Seungmin stood with the panic room door in hand, urgently waving them in before slamming and locking the door just as Bin and Lino reached it and tried to stop them. Hell if anyone would force them to leave. Not even the Alpha or Betas.
You looked around the room. “Where’s Lix?” You pant. The short burst of a sprint and adrenaline making you short of breath.
Min shook his head. “He didn’t make it. I couldn’t wait; they were right behind you.”
“What! We can’t leave him out there!” Innie yelled.
“Its fine. We will get him in here safely. He will know how to hide until then.” You soothed gently, hoping your promise wasn’t just empty words.
There were urgent knocks on the door and Min switched on the security cameras. Something added not long after building the room so those inside could see who was outside the door and they could have easier conversations through mics and speakers instead of a thick security door.
“We aren’t coming out.” Minnie said sternly leaving no room for suggestions.
“Guys, everything is okay!” Lino tried, looking up into the camera.
“That witch is going to take us away and separate us!” Innie argued.
Both Lino and Bin shook their heads on the monitor. “Only if she deems it unsafe for you. And even then, we would fight it!”
“You can’t fight it! They are a big organization, and she already made up her mind! You saw all those papers and her attitude!” You could tell she was just looking for the slightest excuse. She came fully prepared to take you and your brothers with her.
“We won’t let her take you. She will have no reason. We made a lot of positive changes around the territory and house since her last visit. You’ll see.” Bin promised.
When none of you in the room answered him both he and Lino went back upstairs to report on what was going on to Chan.
“Keep an eye on the camera. Lix can’t be far away.” You order.
As if on cue there was a faint howl heard over the speakers. Not Lix. Jinnie calling to the others. Most likely panicked and unaware of what was happening. Howling to find out where the rest of his pack was and to find answers.
Quickly you open the door. “Lix!” You shout for him, heart racing.
He appeared in the basement doorway, eyes wide and out of breath. “Shut the door!” He ordered as he started descending.
“Hurry!” You gesture wildly; it would be close. You could already hear the others.
“Shut it!” He insisted.
He wasn’t going to make it without endangering the rest of them. He met your eyes, only halfway down the stairs. You couldn’t shut the door on him. You couldn’t leave him.
Jinnie appeared just behind Felix, skipping several steps at a time to catch up, long legs making it look easy.
They both tumbled into the room as Lino and Bin started down the stairs again.
“Grab him!” You shout pointing at Hyunjin on the floor with Lix.
It was chaos and flurries of motion as all four of you grabbed at Jinnie. Working together against his strength you got him tied up securely and gagged, sitting him in a chair in the corner as he tried to yell at you through the gag and pulled at his restraints.
All five of you were out of breath because of the struggle.
“Why did we tie him up?” Lix asked even though he had helped do just that. Trusting the rest of you and asking questions later.
“We can’t let him free to force open the door.” You answer glad all of you were in the panic room and safe now. Hyunjin being there wasn’t ideal, but at least you were all behind the locked door. Now they just had to wait it out.
