Always Read The T's & C's!!!
With a camera full of ghetto music video footage I was ready to sit down to a Sunday of frenzied editing.
My friend, Simon, had offered to give me a hand so we stocked up on diet coke and set to work. We decided that it would be wise to check over the T's & C's before commencing, in doing which, we found this:
You must not contain any copyrighted material Each Submission must not contain any copyrighted works (other than as owned by the Entrant, or the Tuborg brand assets provided by the Promoter for use by Entrants in connection with this competition). In particular, you may not incorporate elements of audiovisual works made by other users of the Facebook application in Entrant’s Submission. Any elements appearing in Entrant’s Submission, including without limitation music, audio, speech/voiceovers, stills, video, supers, or other audiovisual materials used must be entirely original, created and performed by Entrant, be in the public domain, or be downloaded from the Website. Use of any elements, including without limitation music, audio, speech/voiceovers, video, stills, visuals, or other materials that are not original, in the public domain, or downloaded from the Website may result in disqualification ofSubmission, in Promoter’s sole discretion.
Oh dear.
Needless to say I was not planning on having to create a music track. However, you can't have a music video without music, plus we'd had a brainwave - mixing the UNKLE remix comp with the Tuborg video comp! Use our newly created remix for the video sound track. It could just work!
After this unexpected T&C shock I re-read the T's and C's of my other outstanding competitions, one of which, was the STD video comp that I've been storyboarding which seems to have expired in 2010. It's off the list!
I promise to be more careful in the future.
