The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross (Steampunk Chronicles book 1)
Rating 5/5
I am a huge fan of the X-Men and I enjoy steampunk style stories. So when I saw that this book was stated to be a cross of X-men and The league of Extraordinary Gentlemen I had to get it. The characters were interesting and fun to read about. Finley isn’t like the normal girls of her age and generation. She enjoys reading and has a hard time keeping her jobs. She gets angry fast and sometimes blacks out without knowing what she did in those moments. She will also hit a man if he tries to take advantage of her instead of letting him do what he wants, even if he is lord. Emily is sweet and super smart, but also can kick butt if she needs to. Sam is a brooding hulk of a man who cares for his friends but is also easily jealous and has trouble trusting. Griffin is a young Duke but he doesn’t lord his power or position over his friends and treats them like equals.
The story was interesting and fun to read, especially the idea of where their abilities came from and why they got them. The whole story was very interesting and it was hard to put this book down and it is one of my favorite books I’ve read.
