Steampunk Dragonologist 2014
If you've noticed the string of updates I've been posting in the last few weeks, I've been in the process of putting this costume together with a huge amount of detail and obsession.
Our 4th Annual Steampunk Festival was today with an underlying Fantasy theme. Originally this process started out as Dragon Whisperer, and turned more into a Dragonologist character. One who goes and lives and studies amongst the dragons in their colony. I could quite literally talk for hours about the details, philosophy and story that goes along with this costume and character. It's great when things like HTTYD, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and The Hobbit count as resources.
Stressful day at work? DRAGONS.
Bored? DRAGONS.
Feeling down? DRAGONS.
THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS DRAGONS.
Time for a project
I've never really been into clothing my dragons, but I had an idea today for a new project just to make myself giggle.
I want to equip every single one of my dragons with a pair of steampunk goggles, nothing else. I guess it helps that the goggles are my favourite piece of clothing, but now I have to come up with a theme name for this.
So many thoughts and random things today. There was the RAWRSMASH moment I had at NPR for their lack of commentary on some Mitt Romney idiocy (The Liar is afraid Obama won't be truthful at the debates? Is he fucking kidding?).
Then there was the epiphany moment in the car.Steampunk Dragons. Seriously. I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier, but that's going to be my next novel, and my reward for finishing this novel. I refuse to start any new novels until this one is finished for once, but it doesn't stop me thinking about the next one.
But what's really on my mind is that I wish I was fluent in Japanese (and Arabic for that matter, but that's another story). I feel a little silly but...I want to watch anime in the original language without needing subtitles. Subtitles require concentration. And don't even talk to me about dubs. Why can't they ever find decent voice actors to read decent translations?
