Stef quietly watched from her seat on the couch as a few of Clint's tenants came around to congratulate him on finally catching himself a wife, oohing and ahhing over Mia's ring. Sure, legally Mia was Clint's wife, but what did that make her? Deep down she knew that the couple loved her just as much as they loved each other, but times like this, she wondered if giving into her feelings for Mia and finding she cared for Clint as well had been a mistake. People gave them all confused looks when they explained that Stef was an equal member in their relationship, though not legally allowed to be recognized as such.
There were days it was fine; they all functioned as a single unified force as they dealt with Renata with her teenaged drama and oversaw the renovations to what would be their home after the troubles were dealt with and it was safe to move out of Tony's place.
Stef absently ran a hand over her swollen belly. Her due date was a couple months away and the little human inside her was being quite active as he came closer to meeting his family. She could do without the constant beating of her insides, but it would be worth it to finally see her son. She'd probably never know who her child's biological father was (oh, Tony could probably run a test or something and find out, but Stef really did not want to open that can of worms. Besides, he was probably dead after the raid to free her so what would be the point) and as far as she was concerned, Clint was her child's father as much as he was to Renata and the twins Mia was carrying; even if they weren't related by blood, he would still be the one he'd call Papa if that's what Clint wanted.
Mia moved away from the group she had been talking to, holding her back to try to relieve some of the pain from the twins as she came to join her other partner on the couch, leaving Clint alone to deal with his people. “Hey, why the frown?” she asked, sitting on Stef's left side, tipping over to lean against the other woman, reaching her left hand over her own large stomach for Stef's right, a gesture they had come to do in order to feel close to each other and the children they both carried.
Taking the offered hand with a sigh, Stef didn't reply, instead opting to enjoy the closeness of the woman she loved. Mia was the only reason she had agreed to try this weird relationship. It wasn't that Clint was a bad guy, he had been rather sweet after they had discussed the issues the two of them had with Mia and he'd stopped thinking he was being replaced, it was just that he had come first in her love's life and had so much more than Stef did in the memories they shared. These feelings of not belonging blindsided Stef in moments that new people to her that knew Clint and Mia from before they got married would react when told that Mia wasn't Clint's only woman and that Mia had chosen Stef to join them for her and not him. It was hard to face the judgment of people close to them and not feel like an outsider in her own relationship.
”You're doing it again, aren't you?” Clint asked quietly, coming over to check on his girls. He saw the look on Stef's face as clear as day; she was doubting her place again. “You know, just because people don't get what we're doing with our lives, doesn't mean what we have isn't right for us.” He bent over to kiss her gently on her lips. “I love you,” he turned to Mia, “and I love you,” kneeling in front of them he continued, placing a gentle kiss on Stef's belly, “I love you,” and finally he kissed Mia's belly twice, “and I love both of you.”
”I love you so much, Stef, I'm glad you're here with us; no matter what people say, you belong here with us, we're a family. Let them say what they like, you're my love and they can't take that away,” Mia added as she ran her fingers through what was now blue tipped hair.
Stef nodded. “I love you…” She knew it was true. People might not understand her place in their relationship, but somehow deep down she knew that with these two she'd always be loved just like she always wanted.

There were cords and wires going from the arm to a separate power source nearby. Stef slowly formed a fist with the hands, watching it move flawlessly. She liked it. It was far better than the original arm.
“I’m telling you, it’s a great idea,” she heard Tony say to her father. He was talking about the Stark upgrade he gave the new arm. “It’s perfect for self defense.”
“Tony, it’s not like your freakin’ suit,” Bucky sighed in frustration. “She can’t just remove her arm when there’s no need for it; she’s a mom now!”
“Which is why she needs protection!” Tony argued.
“Kitten, that’s what the metal arm itself is for.”
Stef watched them coming into view, Bucky obviously looking so done with the argument already. “Puppy daddy,” she called to him, “it’s okay. I actually like the idea of being able to blast people like Tony.”
“You see?” Tony said. “She’s not that worried.”
Bucky shook his head as he folded his arms. “Fine… if you’re really sure about it, babydoll.”
“Yup, I am,” Stef answered him as Tony came up to her.
“Okay,” he said, checking all of the connections to the arm before he stepped away. “JARVIS, set up a target for her.”
“Of course, sir,” JARVIS replied, bringing up an easy to see, glowing target.
Bucky cautiously watched as Tony explained how to work the weaponized arm. He still didn’t like this idea; too much of a potential cost if something were to go disastrously wrong, but neither of them were going to listen. He almost felt he should drop to his knees and pray that the children wouldn’t get killed by an accidental blast from the hand. Sure Tony thought it was safe; he built the thing, knew it inside and out. Stef on the other hand…
She fired, or tried to fire, an experimental shot at the target, but unfortunately, to them, nothing happened.
“Stef, that’s not how I said to do it,” Tony calmly told her. “Do it again, alright?”
Bucky slowly exhaled a breath he had been holding. He really had a bad feeling about all this.

25: “You can’t ride a bike?” - “Why are we whispering?”
Rating: GeneralWords: 164
The weather was feeling warmer, and Stef and Clint had been home with the kids while Mia was out shopping with Cosima. “Maybe we can get some bikes and go riding sometime,” Clint commented to Stef as the kids ran around in front of their building with other children from around the neighborhood.
“Bikes?” Stef asked.
“Yeah. Bicycles. Not motorbikes, the kids are too young for those yet.”
“I don’t know how to ride them,” she admitted to him.
“You can’t ride a bike?” he asked her in a whisper. “Really?”
“Why are we whispering?” she questioned back. “And it wasn’t deemed necessary.”
Clint shook his head. “Man, I totally forgot the kind of childhood you had… Alright, we’re gonna get some bikes, and you’re gonna learn with the kids how to ride.”
“Okay,” Stef simply said, not even sure what the big deal was, but hey, it meant more bonding time with her loves, so why not? She was always fine with that.
Combine 1, 13, 15, 19 and 29 prompts then. (You know what I'm getting at with this lol.)
List is here
1. “We’re not just friends and you fucking know it.”13. “You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, cause guess what? It did!”15. “Stop pretending you’re okay, cause I know you’re not.”19.“I think I’m in love with you, and that scares the crap out of me”29.“Do you want to kiss as bad as I do right now”======
It was a few weeks after Angelo had been forcibly removed from the property before Stef started seeming better. Most weren’t entirely sure they believed her almost cheery mood, though. Forced smiles and quiet laughter held reminders of her good days with the abuser, when she was always so careful not to do anything that would upset him. No one really felt comfortable about calling her out on it, until Mia finally couldn’t take it anymore, pulling the younger woman into her room. “Stef, you need to stop this,” she told her, her voice having a concerned edge to it.
“Stop what?” Stef wondered.
“Stop pretending you’re okay, ‘cause I know you’re not.”

Stef’s demeanor quickly changed, careful happiness erased just like that. She swallowed nervously as she looked away. “W-what are you talking about? I’m fine...”
“No you’re not,” Mia stated, arms folded over her expanding belly. “You’re not making anyone feel better by doing this. In fact, everyone is worrying more.”
“Well you shouldn’t!” Stef shouted back. “No one should be worried,” she said, lowering her voice. “I don’t deserve that.”
“Stef...” Mia walked over to her. It hurt to hear that her friend was still thinking so lowly of herself that she felt she didn’t deserve to have people worrying over her. “Please stop saying that about yourself.”
“Why should I, Mia? It’s true!”
“No it’s not, Stef!”
“It is!” Stef didn’t really have the energy for a fight right now, tears trickling down. “If it isn’t... I-if it isn’t true, then why...? Why does all this shit happen to me, Mia...?” All of the horrors she had endured to keep him around, the heartache of always knowing, deep down, things just weren’t right; it all came flooding out with her sobs. She couldn’t stop it. She wasn’t quite aware when Mia started holding her, letting her get it all out. When the tears finally stopped, she felt exhausted, but it seemed Mia wasn’t quite done with their little talk yet. “I...” the older woman began, her arms still around her, “I don’t know why so much evil finds its way to you, Stef, but...”
“But what...?” the young woman whispered, wanting done with this conversation already, but the fact she was still being held kept her from pushing Mia away.
“You’re not alone, Stef.”
She huffed a little. “I am, though.”
“No...”
“I want more than this. I don’t want only friendship,” Stef complained.
Mia shook her head, telling her, “We’re not just friends, Stefania, and you fucking know it.”
Both women paused, staring at each other. “So... what then?” Stef questioned her, not allowing herself to believe that Mia meant something that she so desperately wished to be true. “Are you going to tell me that we’re family? Sisters, maybe?”
“N-no, I...” It was now or never. She had to say it, even if she was absolutely terrified of the possible consequences. “I... I-I think I’m in love with you,” she finally confessed, “and it scares the crap out of me...”
A fresh set of tears threatened to spill from Stef’s eyes, having heard Mia, yes, but... it couldn’t possibly be true, right? “How...?”
“That night we shared... you know what I’m talking about. You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, because guess what? It did. It did, and, aside from Clint and Renata, it was one of the best things to happen to me.”
“So you liked the sex then,” Stef tried to argue, “big deal. Lots of people have...”
“They don’t know you, I do.” Mia pulled away enough so she could better see Stef’s face, gently wiping at the tears. “They don’t know how wonderful you are. You’re always thinking about others. You take amazing care of James, and you’ll be a terrific mother...” She softly kissed the top of Stef’s head as the other woman hid her face in Mia’s chest, body shaking from the new set of sobs. All of it had been so long overdue.
Eventually Stef was able to calm down, shyly looking up at Mia, waiting for her words to be taken back. “You... you mean it? You really mean it, Mia?”
Mia couldn’t help smiling at her, allowing her fingers to play with Stef’s hair. They had denied themselves this genuine happiness for far, far too long. “I do.” She felt Stef’s fingers tighten in the fabric of her top, the unasked question lingering in the air between them, waiting to be spoken. “Stef...” she breathed, tilting her love’s chin up to look her in the eye, “do you want to kiss as bad as I do right now?”
Stef smiled back, but knew she was about to just start crying again so she closed that small bit of space between them, lips gently meeting. Perhaps there would be something good for her in this life after all.
