WE should talk more about Stefano Modena
This is my GOAT. I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH.
Some fun facts:
he drove in F1 from 1987-1992 and was almost seen as a ‘rising star’
ultimately the thing that got him wasn’t his driving but his mentality, he likely had extreme OCD and was often described as ‘eccentric and odd’
He wore his gloves inside out, wouldn’t let anyone but the dude who buckled his seatbelts touch his car after he got in (if someone did, he’d literally get out of the car and get back in), and he HATED when his car was on the left side of the garage
Simon Lewis, who’s written many car related books, once ‘met’ Stefano. He said that Stefano was crouched down in the corner of his garage, with a thousand yard stare. When he asked for an autograph, Stefano simply signed it, without a word.
He was friends with Ayrton Senna
He was Michael Schumachers idol during karting
He has 2 podiums
