I always had this headcanon of Peggy Carter being the Winter Soldier. She’d go on the run with Steve and the crew after Civil War and there would be some spots of levity or romance… waking up in some abandoned warehouse in who knows where.
Enter this piece. It’s been finished and sitting in my Procreate folder for a good 5 years.
Where Peggy and Steve are roommates, and Peggy labels on her food containers with her name on them.
Never touch Peggy's food, especially when she's hungry.
It's probable that she is the type of person who says 'I love you' to a slice of cake.

This is the time of year when I like to remind people that this is one of my favorite fics I’ve ever written in any fandom. I wrote it two years ago but I re-read it often.
Art is by the amazing @roboticonography, who was also the recipient of this gift for the 2022 Steggymas event.
Peggy’s life perhaps wasn’t an easy one, but it stayed rather simple. Filled with really mundane things in between a heist here or there. Everything changed when her team decided to take on an impossible job, worth unimaginable money. Death awaited those who crossed Grisha, but what if Peggy’s certain demise at the hands of the most lethal of all is interrupted by a burst of light?
a Steggy Shadow and Bone AU - Steggy Secret Santa gift for @formerlyir 🎁❤
Dear @formerlyir I hope you’re having happy, peaceful time with your family and that you’re all far away from germs that kinda hindered my writing process. I’m sorry to say that the story isn’t fully finished yet, but it will be as soon as possible. For now you get an intro and tomorrow a full chapter. The next one should be ready by the end of the week.
Working on this story is/was extremely fun, because for once I was sure I’m merging two words that my giftee is really crazy about. When I saw that I’ll be making something for you I couldn’t stop grinning ear to ear. Instantly I knew what I’d be making 😆 Hope you enjoy!
A very belated updated of @cafecitowriter secret santa fic, where Steve answers Peggy's question and bonding ensues.
Special thanks to @doctorhelena and @captainjimothycarter for reading this over and calming the writer crazies and to @formerlyir for this incredible cover art

What are your thoughts on casual sex?
Steve blushes at Peggy’s message. He’s never had a woman be so direct before, like he thinks she is anyway. He doesn’t really know a thing about women but he’s fairly certain she is propositioning him.
Except not him, the fake Steve, the one that started off as a way to find Raina and tell her off, but quickly became a source of attention he didn’t want to give up.
What the hell is he doing?
He is not this guy. Yes, attention is nice, but it’s all fake and he doesn’t want that. He wants someone to care about him, the real him.
He managed to scare off a number of his matches already, and he thought the romance novels and mama’s boy would do it for Peggy, but he should have known from her fascinating questions that it would take more than that.
The answer to this one will do it though.

Chapter Preview:
Despite how many times she went through the events of February 23rd through February 25th in an attempt to figure out what she possibly could have done to have changed the outcome, what she could have done to save him, the only thing she could ever be certain of was the emptiness that now claimed itself as her constant companion.
Bucky’s death had led to tidal wave after tidal wave of grief and guilt that radiated off of him. As he was living and breathing then, she could feel everything he felt. Every time his agony threatened to swallow him whole, it did the same to her.
His own death was more akin to the Fates cutting his life string — though this time they used acute shards of ice instead of scissors. One moment he was there, present in every part of her heart, her body, and her soul.

Peggy was sitting with Steve in the bullpen. They were in the middle of the paperwork when she finally looked up at him. He had this very serious look on his face, and she wondered if he was thinking about the case.
“What're you thinking?" Peggy asks.
Steve looks up from the papers on his desk. "What do you mean?"
Peggy eyes him critically. “You have that look in your eyes. That look like you’re on to something. Do tell."
Steve was silent for a moment, coming to a decision. He leans over the desk towards her, almost as though he was sharing a secret. "I’ve found something that I think you should look at.” he slides over a file.
She only had worked with him for almost a week, but she could tell that he was a very committed, driven individual. This should be a good find.
“The twin’s x-rays came back."
As Peggy reads the report, her heart sinks - extensively remodeled rib fractures, linear skull fractures, periosteal bone formation - all telltale signs of repeated trauma.
Peggy sighs. "This should definitely hold up in court."
"Agreed," Steve says. "I'm gonna grab a coffee. You want anything?"
"No, thanks," Peggy replies, her mind beginning to wander. Peggy truly wanted nothing but the best for the twins - they had their entire lives ahead of them.
She could only hope she and Steve would do good enough defending them.

"Pietro. He'll be back any minute now, hurry up!" Wanda whisper-shouts to the direction of the stairs, watching the door carefully. Strücker had gone out to his laboratory to grab something he had left there and he'd no doubt be back soon. If they were going to run away, they needed to do it now. The security cameras were currently down (Wanda and Pietro's own doing), but they would reboot soon...time was not on their side.
"Wanda, I'm packing our things as fast as I can, unless you want to do it?!" Pietro huffs, backpack in hand.
"You're the faster one," Wanda snarks back. "So hurry up. We have to get out of here." Wanda adds tersely, wringing her hands together anxiously.
Pietro says nothing in reply, going from room to room to pack random items they'd need on the run. Wanda had hope that this time, it would work. This time they would escape, she just knew it.
"Do you know the combination to the safe?" Pietro asks. Together, the two of them were able to scrape together $32 dollars; that would hardly last them long.
Most of the money that Strücker had was in the safe - money they would need for train tickets and food.
"No. I was hoping you did." Wanda rushes up the stairs to help Pietro with the safe.
"Could it be his birth year?" Wanda asks.
"I don't think he's that stupid," Pietro frowns, but he does try the combination nonetheless.
The twins both try to think, and unbeknownst to them, Strücker was currently creeping up the stairs.
Pietro was trying every combination possible.
"What are you doing?!" Strücker's booming voice yells in the doorway as he is greeted by the scene of the twins in his private office, with jackets on and backpacks on their shoulders. His lips curl into a cruel smile. "Looks like you two didn't learn your lesson from last time you tried to run away."
Pietro and Wanda, still on the ground, scoot away fearfully as he stalks toward them, butcher knife in hand.
They are backed into a corner, and Wanda, panicked, grabs the first thing she can find - a five-pound dumbbell. She throws it at Strücker, hitting him in the abdomen.
Pietro, being the faster of the two, easily weaves away from Strücker, while Wanda, attempting to dodge him, gets caught by him like a fly trapped in a spider's web.
Strücker holds Wanda in a chokehold, knife pressed to her throat as she struggles, legs fervently kicking as she claws at his hand.
"Let her go!" Pietro yells. The only phone in the house was downstairs in the kitchen, too far to call the police. Pietro was immobilized with fear. If he made a move, Strücker could easily slash Wanda's throat.
Wanda sinks her nails into Strücker's arm, desperately trying to free herself from his grip.
"You know what I'm gonna do with you two brats?" Strücker spits, tossing Wanda to the ground roughly. Wanda lets out a half-exhale-half-sob, crawling the few steps to Pietro and he helps her up, shielding her with his body protectively. "I'm going to make sure you two never see the sunrise again," he threatens, a murderous look in his eye. Whether that meant being locked in his laboratory (something that has been threatened in the past) or death...the twins were not keen to find out.

“Steve…” Peggy says, swallowing the lump in her throat. “Do you think we can win this? The X-rays are plenty of evidence on their own, but…” she trails off, biting her lip.
Steve scratches the back of his neck. “I...honestly don’t know, Carter. I’d like to say yes.”
They sit in silence for another few minutes, the only sound in the room being the ticking of the clock on the wall.
Steve exhales, closing one of the folders shut. “You know why I became an attorney?” He asks.
“Pray tell,” Peggy replies, grateful for the change of subject.
“I became one because, well, my Dad was a piece of shit...he treated my Ma pretty bad, and I just...I never want that to happen to anyone else, you know? That’s why I hope we win. These kids don’t deserve to be treated like this and then get sent to juvie.” he spits.
Peggy’s heart aches for him, nodding sympathetically. “I’m sorry that happened to you, Steve. Truly.”
Steve laughs incredulously. “No, no, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to dump that on you,” he admits more than a little embarrassed.
“Steve...don’t apologize for sharing that with me. I’m glad you were willing to share something like that with me.” Peggy says earnestly. They hardly knew each other and he was willing to share that with her - that was important to Peggy.
...Important to know him since they'd be working together for the foreseeable future, of course. That was the only reason.
Steve smiles at Peggy fondly. “Thank you...that means a lot to me, Carter.”
