The Romantic Road, Germany
This was 2014. The girlfriend and I went to our usual vacation spot down in Bavaria, and it was dreamlike. Interestingly enough I do remember the rainy days the most vividly - the forests had something almost mystic to them, as if tehy were whispering secrets, and the clouds were so low I was convinced I could touch them if I wanted.
I miss that summer.

Pilgrimage Church of Wies
Pilgrimage Church of Wies is located in the state of Bavaria in the town of Steingaden, Germany. The church was built in a remote Bavarian countryside as a pilgrimage site for Christians. In the 18th century, miracle stories began to circulate by those who visited the church and prayed on the wooden statue of Jesus, known as the Scourged Savior. People claimed tears were seen on the wooden figure, and some claimed it cured them of disease, leading to a larger influx of visitors. Although a small chapel was erected to house the statue, the vast number of pilgrims had Steigaden Abbey commissioning a second shrine. In 1745, they began building the Baroque, rococo church, which was completed in 1754. The church is oval with a semi-circular antechamber. The colorful interior has vaulted arches, columns, stucco work, frescoes, wooden vaulting, statues, painted ceilings, gold leaf, and an upper and lower gallery. Pilgrimage Church of Wies is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as an example of Bavarian Rococo. The church and the old chapel are open to the public.
