It's official! Skalickie Skałki (Skalice Rocks) confirmed as the oldest rock outcrop in entire Poland. Made of sillimanite gneisses they were said to be even a billion years old, but current estimations are closer to 600 mln yrs.

Sedimentary layering in rocks helps to clearly visualize deformations that the rock has undergone. Here, we can see a result of compression applied in sideways fashion (from the sides), this causes the rock to buckle without breaking and a series of anticlines and synclines (concave and convex structures).

Trzej Królowie (The Three Kings) - a group of basaltic rocks. They are part of the lava dome, making the low, flat hill Kopista. The whole rock formation results from fissure eruptions, probably of Oligocene age.

Chojnowska Plain, at the foot of the Pogórze Kaczawskie. Active basalt quarries are found on two lava domes in the region: Kopista and Winna Góra.

Small abandoned amphibolite quarry on the Kunowska Góra in the Ślęża Massif. It's called mountain, but in fact it's the hill of 190 m. For some reasons I wanted to visit this place since long and finally did.
