After a week of vacation in one of the most beautiful and dark places on Earth (Tenerife) and after a lot of time outside taking stills and time-lapse sequences, I am happy to share a little bit of this astrophotography and nature heaven with you guys. I highly recommend to visit this place and especially hike up El Teide, the famous volcano, peaking at 3780m, at night or even during the day. The atmosphere there is really special, lunar even, and I was eventually able to experience the night sky lighting up the ground for the first time! I had never seen the milky way (especially its core) so bright! Indeed Tenerife benefits from it's low latitude, exceptionally dark skies (polluted by maybe a few towns), low air pollution and dry conditions year round. I had to bump my ISO to 6400 many times, even at f/2.0! I hope you enjoy this little time-lapse of Tenerife as much as I enjoyed staying there and hope you consider a vacate there if you are an astrophotography/nightsky freak!
All shots taken with Sony alpha 7r2 and canon EOS 70D.
