Stella was crossing the Kaisers’ apartment building when she remembered that she should thank Mrs. Kaiser for the wonderful gift that she’d sent her. Well, yes it could’ve been conveyed by a simple call or message but Stella didn’t work like that. She always ensured that she expresses her gratitude (or displeasure) in person. So, she parks her car nearby, buys a bouquet of lilies from the florist round the corner - the only flowers she liked - and walks into the building. Once in the elevator, on her way to the penthouse, she starts having second thoughts. She should’ve asked the manager whether the lady of the house was at home. But, she was already there by the time she decided to recheck it. So, stepping out she makes her way to the living room but finds the house unusually quiet. Figuring that neither of the parent is at home, she decides to return before she encounters Jake. She was in no mood to talk to him after his rude behaviour at her birthday. Keeping the flowers on the centre table she turns to get back to the elevator but her heel gets caught in the carpet and her ankle twists. “Ouch!” she cries out in pain as she falls down.
