He wanted to be here. With her. She couldn’t stop the smile that formed on her face. “I’m sorry I yelled at you earlier,” she told him.

“You know that you can yell at me any time you want, Stella Bak,” he said. “It’s in the Cory Stella contract, I'm pretty certain. If I remember correctly, you also yelled at me when I met you for the first time in front of the taco truck.”

Stella laughed. “That's because you said, and I quote, “Are you really going to eat that whole thing?”

Cory grinned, looking sheepish. “If you want to know the truth, I was in awe of you. And anyone who can eat an entire Gigantesco Burrito has my full respect, I assure you. Sometimes-okay frequently-my mouth starts working before my brain does.”

“Wanna know a secret?” she whispered, closing even more of the distance between them. She desperately wanted to be as close to him as possible. “I did eat the whole thing, in fact.”

“I know you did, I was there. I assumed you did it out of spite.”

Stella laughed quietly at the memory, watching him in the dim light of the tent. Between the darkness of the storm and the shadow from the overhang outside the tent, she was just barely able to make out his features. When a flash of lightning illuminated his face, however, she caught a glimpse of something else in his eyes that she hadn’t seen there before-desire.
