Hey guys, so being the broke college student that I am, a couple of months ago I was looking up ways that I can make money, and came across this app called StepBet, where you can earn money based off of your steps.
The jist is, if you have a FitBit or a Garmin or even just use like Apple Health (since it tracks your lovely steps), you can connect it to StepBet. They have games that range from 4-8 weeks, usually 6, and it costs $20-40+ to buy into a game (usually $40), and you're given step goals based on your walking history. So like, they have Active goals and Stretch goals. Active goals are closer to your regular pattern, and Stretch gives you about 2-4,000 more steps than your Active. Each week you have 1 free day to be a potato, 4 Active days and 2 Stretch days. Week 1 is always a warmup week for people to join and get used to the challenge. If after each week you complete your challenge, you split the pot. Now StepBet currently takes 12.5% of the earnings off the top, but if an unusually large amount of people win, they will always give you your original amount that you put in.
Okay, now I know that for broke college students $20-40+ might be steep, but I started a game that's only a $20 buy in, and I have made money back. Not much, but something is better than nothing. I've participated in 2 games and have earned $14 between the two. That's enough money to supply you in ramen noodles for like a week, maybe 2, and it's forcing you to stay a little more active so you can keep off some of the weight that comes from a ramen noodle budget. And it could be just as simple as not taking a short cut to class, or ditching the elevator and taking the stairs
