My filing is like a ‘step pool’ system. As I decide that a pile of filing has built up I then ‘overflow’ it into later, subsidiary pools (like my bin, or my bank and tax statements, or ‘useful contacts’, or ‘offers I might take up in the next year’ , or ‘interesting articles’) . And as these build up they in turn end up in the bin, in my filing cabinet, or scanned onto my PC. And so on and so on.
And I probably use the same system for ‘friends I’ve not been in touch with for a while’, although that might be more of a ‘riffle pool’ system.
