#Repost @hetmanski_hobbies with @get_repost ・・・ My Stepcraft D.840 CNC machine has been cranking out some pretty sweet parts. I’ve had the most fun with carbon fiber. I used it to make perfect carbon fiber rear shock towers, battery tray, receiver/shifter mount, winch controller mount and speed control mount for my Traxxas TRX-4. The parts bar turned a truck that was pretty cool to a truck that is REALLY cool. Pretty soon I’ll be cutting carbon parts in a water bath and not having to worry about carbon dust getting everywhere. I’ve had my Stepcraft-2/840 CNC machine since November and I had some grand plans for it right out of the gate. Sure its 100% ready to use once you get it built but that doesn’t mean that you’re 100% ready to use it. I’ve been a so so machinist since about 1992 and have made and designed a lot of parts but using this machine has almost been like starting from scratch. I’ve learned a lot since November and made design tweaks to a lot of parts to make them easier (and therefore cheaper for you) to machine and recently the computer that I’ve been using decided to head towards the light and not work anymore. So that’s another slight step backwards that I have to deal with. I’m taking what I’ve learned and using that to tweak my setup so it’s 100% ready to go and work just like I want it to. Once I have a computer to run it and have had a chance to get my tool paths dialed in I’ll finally be able to make and sell my parts. I’ll also be able t make one-off parts (depending on complexity) for anyone who needs them. I’m getting there. I wasn't happy with the first servo mount that I made so I decided to make another one. I've learned a lot since I made the fist one and still have some minor issues to address.
