-THE FINAL INKTOBER OF 2019!! It’s been fun, trying but fun! Look forward to next year!
Alright, so there's this comic book series....
And since I haven't seen any posts about it and it's been over 4 years since it started, I'm going to talk about it.
So there's this comic book series by Dark Planet Comics called "Silver". What is it about you say? It's set 40 years after the Bram Stoker's "Dracula" universe, and it follows James Finnigan. A well renown thief in the U.S., who just pulled a big heist which involves with Jonathan and Mina Harker's stash of Silver being sold at an auction. Unfortunately, James loses his key to his stash and the police took it back. Only leaving him with a journal written by Jonathan Harker about his time with Dracula and his treasure. So he rallies a group of specialists along with a vampire huntress named Rosalynd Van Helsing or Sledge for short to go to Dracula's castle to pull the riskest and biggest heist of their lives.
The comic is drawn and written by Stephan Franc, who was supervising animator for Iron Giant, story artist for How to Train Your Dragon, and many other animated movies. The comic has been crowd funded and is accompanied by a novel "Rosalynd" which follows Rosalynd's childhood and how she became a Vampire Huntress.
Now onto the main thing I love about the series, the art.
Stephan's line work, and how he does his shading is fantastic. Giving the noir atmosphere as the story is intended to be, and a lof of the compositions of the panels are wide and brilliantly done. The use of solid black, graying, and patterns brings in the depth of the black and white theme.
Will you enjoy "Silver"? Ask yourself these questions: Do you like Noir/heist stories? Do you enjoy Bram Stoker's "Dracula"? Do you enjoy twists and suspense? Do you enjoy black, white, and gray color schemes? Then you might enjoy "Silver".
I feel that we are in an altogether very noisy culture. Everything is cranked up to ten, but not everything is interesting, and most importantly not everything comes from an honest place. When I do panels, aspiring writers/creators often asked me “what does the industry want?” My answer is that what the industry knows it wants, the industry already has, so it doesn’t need you to make more of it. In this environment, I think the only way forward for creatives is to pick a genre that they are passionate about, within which they tell stories that they are genuinely excited about, that are populated by characters that they honestly care about. I think raw honesty is everyone’s best bet right now. That’s the only way to cut through the noise.

Finished What If...? Season 3 (2024)
This is a decent season that takes the series' high concepts into weirder directions. The stories are all over the place in terms of tone, but the wild ideas are interesting and the series features some highlights. The series makes great use of the phase 4 and 5 characters and expands on some major moments from the main MCU in some fun ways, particularly mixing the magic with the supernatural elements. The returning characters are given some interesting new developments, while the new characters are pretty fun. The series features a nice mix of returning actors and solid soundalikes, while new actors like Natasha Lyonne, Alison Sealy-Smith and Jason Isaacs fit with the series tone well. Jeffrey Wright remains great as the Watcher and the character is given the strongest arc of the series. The animation remains quite good and keep up with the big scale action well. (The heavy use of the Kirby crackle throughout is a great nod to the comics.) The action makes great use of the new settings while playing with the characters' abilities i surprising ways. This is a solid culmination for the series and among the most unique of the recent MCU series.
