headcanon: I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and I know I’ve probably already alluded to this, but as much as Stephen quietly appreciates plays and literature, I want him to be a closet theater kid; like, deep down, if you were alone with him and just being goofy, shouting out musicals, he’d be able to sing songs from them, switch characters and act out everything with a passion and a vigor that he normally doesn’t show people.
headcanon fact: Though Aaron is Stephen’s best friend, Stephen trusts Lawrence with more of his thoughts and feelings, though she belittles him and judges him hardcore. Mean, judgmental women are more familiar to him than supportive dudebros.
ALSO, I wanted to say that I realized the difference between Margo and Stephen, because they’re very similar---which also helped me to realize what parts they both represent for me. Stephen’s my timid optimism and Margo is the reliable, absolutist pessimism; Margo’s my black and white thinking, and Stephen’s my gray thinking; Margo’s my impulse, and Stephen’s my thoughtfulness; Margo’s the leader and Stephen’s the follower.
They’re the duel personalities that come with depression---or at least, with my depression; and I didn’t realize that until now, but I think I’ve brilliantly articulated those two facets of my depression. And I’m kinda proud of that.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I honestly don’t like how I’ve written him no father, but it makes his early domestic life plot way clearer for it to be that way.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

revised headcanon: Post-Scandinavia trip, Stephen went with Aaron to go get some tattoos, and Portia was their tattoo artist. So, while Aaron got his tattoo, Stephen just flirted with Portia the whole time, but Stephen’s too chicken shit for tattoos, so he never got one---partially as an excuse to go back and see her again.

Alright–! *cracks knuckles* The mun thinks pansexuality is a subcategory of bisexuality, but I know a lot of people don’t think that and would happily fight me on that point, which is legit—so for the sake of my character living in a world that is not limited to or hindered by just my beliefs, Stephen’s most likely pansexual.
But Stephen would never know this because he hasn’t explored it. Sure, he knows his students have spent a lot of time exploring gender and sexuality, and sometimes, he picks up books and articles to read on these subjects, but he’s never really thought too hard about his sexual identity, other than what his mother would think if he batted for the other team (or ended up being homosexual). So, he’s really limited himself in his sexual ventures.
But if he didn’t take his mother’s reaction into account every time he considered dating someone, he would broaden his spectrum more.
I would very much like more deets on Stephen's dip in the man pool if you wouldn't mind !!!

OKAY! *claps hands together* Back in 1999, Stephen went abroad to Scandinavia (more specifically: Finland, Sweden, Norway & Denmark) with some friends during college. In Copenhagen (Denmark), his friends went out for a night of fun, and he ended up hooking up with a British student also studying abroad in a really popular underground club. They went to third base in a bathroom stall after cleaning a bunch of glitter off of Stephen, and Stephen regards it as the most exciting sexual experience he’s ever had, yet he’s never told anybody about it. Not even his best friend.
