It came out way too small but i'm proud of it nonetheless

The Horror Film, Stephen Price
“Sure is a funky old house, ain’t it?”
- Stephen H. Price, House on Haunted Hill (1999, dir. William Malone)
Here’s sketch #5 in my GR Sketch-a-thon challenge, where I’m counting down to his 70th birthday in July by trying to doodle as many of his roles as possible: it’s Stephen H. Price, a role which plays homage to the great Vincent Price, in the remake of “House on Haunted Hill”. As a horror movie, it’s underwhelming, you’ll jump once or twice, but any Rush fan will enjoy the sheer amount of screen time he has and rejoice in seeing the amount of fun he has in this hammy role.
I really struggled getting this drawing right which I’m sad about as I love his Stephen Price and he looks beaut in so many stills, I wanted to capture that but... failed. Sometimes I just can’t get my artistic shit together. I may draw him again at some point and try to do better. He’s too lush not to, I mean, look at him! 😘
And is it some kind of mystical dyad if you’re fave actor plays a tribute to another of your fave actors? I really love Vincent Price so HoHH is a total guilty pleasure. There are some shots that you glance at Geoff and you’re like “daaaamn, he looks like Vincent!” (And if you’ve not seen the original, it’s definitely worth a watch - it wasn’t what I was expecting, and it honestly made me jump at least once, which is as much as the remake managed to do. Plus you get to see Vincent in all his tall, handsome, hammy glory...)
And the rest of the Countdown-to-Geoff’s-70th-birthday sketches I’ve done so far:
Leon Trotsky (Frida, 2002)
The Marquis de Sade (Quills, 2000)
Harry Pendel (Tailor of Panama, 2001)
David Helfgott (Shine, 1996)
(Still open to requests for future sketches! Preferably obscure roles, I’ll get to Barbossa ofc further down the line.)
Little Hamilton oneshot or short fic of an AU where Philip lives?
(As a certified idiot, I wasn’t sure what you meant by little Hamilton, but I could try it if you explained what you meant. Anyways, here’s the first part of the Philip Lives fic!)
Summary: Some bullet wounds are survivable, which Philip finds out for himself. But that doesn’t mean that the wound (and the repercussions) won’t still hurt like hell.

“My child that’s just how things are!” You heard your mother’s voice, however the words she was saying hadn’t registered at all with you. You sat there on the sofa, in shock. You knew this day was bound to come but— “I just didn’t expect this day to come so soon.” You whispered, hoarsely. Your mother and father looked at each other helplessly. It broke their hearts to tell you this—to break your heart. To tell you, that you couldn’t see Philip Hamilton. Your best friend—your first friend. Your first love. ♪Have you ever felt like nobody was there?♪ Your father, now a rich, and successful merchant turned politician, paced in front of you, his hands clasped behind his back, his pacing footsteps muffled by the rug beneath his boots. Your mother sitting in a chair across from you, reached out a delicate hand to her husband, which he clasped tightly, both feeling hopeless as they watched their daughter’s heart break, as society broke into her care-free life. “You both are no longer children.” Your father said to you in a soft tone. “Philip has turned into a fine young man, and you, a fine young lady.” He said, as he gazed down at you. “If this is the price I must pay—.” You stopped mid-sentence, your voice so shaky you couldn’t even finish the sentence. You could barely breathe. Your father noticed and quickly rushed to your side grabbing your hands and giving them a light squeeze. Your mother called for the housekeeper to bring a glass of water and quickly.
♪Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere?♪ After what seemed like a lifetime a glass of water was placed into your hand and you heard your father’s soft voice in your ear, “Drink (Y/N).” You could hear the worry and concern in his voice. You gazed down at the water glass with hollow eyes before you lifted it numbly to your lips and took a small sip. You could barely get the clear liquid down. Your father took the glass from your hands and set it on the wooden side table next to the sofa you and he sat on. He then turned back towards you. “(Y/N), you know that it breaks my heart to tell you this. But as I said before, you and Philip are no longer children. Society believes you to be grown adults-Philip is an adult in the eyes of others! For you two to be seen together so frequently-people would begin to whisper and it would be improper.” With each word, his voice became softer and softer with sadness, as he saw your heartbroken reaction to this information. “But you’ll still see him!” Your mother pipped up comfortingly. Your father nodded. “Of course you will…but it will be different than when you were children.” He said. You nodded and swallowed. “Does Philip know?” You asked. Your father gazed at you with a thoughtful gaze. “If he hasn’t already, I’m sure Secretary Hamilton and Mrs. Hamilton will tell him the same thing we’re tell you now.” He said softly. You felt your breaths becoming shorter, as you were on the verge of sobbing. If only your parents knew how much you and Philip meant to each other. They believed that you were only childhood friends. ‘If they only knew.’ You thought to yourself. You stood up quickly causing your mother and father to rise as well. “I understand. May I be excused to my room?” You asked, looking to both of your parents, trying to make sure your voice sounded steady. Your mother seemed about to protest, but your father gave her a quick glance and she stopped what she was about to say. Your father then nodded. “Of course (Y/N). We’re here if you need anything.” He said, before he stepped forward and placed a soft kiss on your forehead. “We love you sweetheart.” He whispered. You nodded and gave his cheek a kiss. “Thank you Papa.” You said. You then walked over to your mother who gave you a sympathetic look, and took your hands in hers and you kissed each other’s cheeks. You then briskly walked to your room as quickly as possible, and once the door was closed you broke down. My dearest Philip, My father and mother have broken the news to me, that society demands that we don’t see each other in the fashion that we have been doing so these past nine years. If only they knew. No matter what, my feelings do not change for you as I hope yours do not for me. You quickly placed the letter in an envelope before sealing it with your personal seal. You watched as the red wax hardened, before you stood up. As you were putting your quill and ink away, there was a faint tapping on your window. You spun around startled, a hand flying to your chest. You saw the silhouette of a figure outside, and quickly ran to the window, pushing the curtain aside and saw Stephen Price, a friend of Philip’s that he had introduced to you. He was glancing around worriedly as you opened the window. “Stephen what are you doing here? My parents are home—if they see you sneaking around—.” You started. “I brought a message from Philip.” He said, which shut you up immediately. You gasped and watched as he took a neat letter from his satchel. You snatched it from him and quickly broke the seal. You scanned the letter quickly. When you found what you wanted, you looked at Stephen, and held up a hand. “I have something for you to give to him.” You said, running to your writing desk and grabbing the letter. You quickly went back to the window and handed it to the young man. “Thank you for doing this Stephen.” You whispered to him. He smiled at your thanks and bowed his head. “Anything for you and Philip, Miss. (L/N).” He then quickly put away your letter in his satchel. “I’ll make sure Philip gets this.” He said with a smile. “Thank you so much. Now you better go before anyone sees you!” You said glancing around, checking for anyone. “And deliver that straight into Philip’s hands and nobody else’s!” You said to him urgently. He bowed, and assured you he would. Then he was gone. You quickly went back to the letter and read it, your heart pounding. You ran your thumb over Philips red seal, the familiar sight giving you comfort. You then opened the letter, and began to read, easily translating Philips script. My darling (Y/N), I hope this reaches you in good time. My parents told me I must not see you like we have been since our childhood. In my father’s own words, ‘you are a man now Philip. (Y/N) is a fine young lady, but you must start taking some responsibility in the house as the young man that you are. You must present yourself as the young man I know you are. And that starts today.’ But my darling if becoming a young man means leaving you behind, then I wish to become nothing of the kind! Know that I care for you and love you. And that I will always love you. You may see less of me, we may be kept apart by our parents, and the rules of society but know that my love will only grow for you, and does every day. We will get through this my dearest. Have hope. I love you. Your Loving Philip ♪All we see is light♪ ♪'Cause maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay♪ You gazed at Philip’s signature for what seemed like hours. He felt the same way you did. MEANWHILE AN HOUR OR TWO LATER: Stephen Price arrived at the Hamilton residence later in the day. He knew that Mr. Hamilton, Philips father was a very clever man, and would notice something out of the ordinary immediately. Taking a deep breath, the young man walked up the steps of the townhouse and quickly knocked on the door. After a few moments the door opened, and there stood Secretary Hamilton, his wife, Mrs. Hamilton behind him. Mr. Hamilton didn’t even seem surprised to see Stephen Price. He gave his son’s friend a warm smile. Stephen gave a nod of respect to the older man. “Mr. Price, what a pleasant surprise.” Alexander Hamilton said in greeting. “Good afternoon Secretary Hamilton. Is Philip home?” Stephen asked. “Yes he is. Please come in!” Alexander Hamilton replied, opening the door for the young man to walk through. The young man cleared his throat. “With all due respect sir, I am only going to be here for a few moments. I have something to tell your son.” Mr. Hamilton shared a curious look with his wife, before turning back to the young man. “Well Philip is home but if you are in a rush I can give the message to him if you wish.” He said concerned. Stephen gave a small smile to his friend’s father before clearing his throat once more out of nervousness. “Once again with all due respect, I have something to speak to Philip about privately and it’s for his ears alone.” Stephen Price said. Alexander Hamilton didn’t say anything, before he slowly nodded. “I’ll send for him. But while I do, I really do insist you come inside.” The older man said with a smile. With a reluctant nod, Stephen stepped into the house and stood there as Mr. Hamilton closed the door. He gave a respectful bow to Mrs. Hamilton, before turning to her husband. “Please follow me to the parlor where you can wait while I get Philip.” Mr. Hamilton said.
With a nod the young man followed Secretary Hamilton through the house, as he led him to a room. He then told the young man to wait, and went to grab his son. Within two minutes, Philip came into the room, his father following behind. Philip shot his friend a worried look as he walked into the room. They greeted each other, and then Philips father nodded to both young men. “I’ll leave you two then.” He then turned, and exited the room, closing the two solid white French doors behind him. Once the doors closed, both young men let out a breath of relief and greeted each other with smiles. “Did you give (Y/N) the letter?” Philip Hamilton asked frantically. Stephen nodded and dug the young lady’s own letter out of his satchel. “She seemed very happy to receive it and told me to make sure this was delivered to your hands and your hands alone.” He said, and gave Philip the letter. Philip quickly broke the seal and scanned the letter, his mouth firmly pressed. Then he began to smile. The longer he read, the bigger the smile. He then folded the letter and gazed at his friend, his eyes ablaze with happiness. “She loves me.” He said in a gleeful tone. Stephen smiled at the sight of his friend’s happiness. “I wish you both the best.” He said clapping his friend on the shoulder. Philip nodded. “Thank you Stephen. And thank you for doing this for us. We owe you.” He said. Stephen couldn’t help but chuckle. “Seeing you happy my dear Philip is payment enough.” He said. “Now I must be going. I hope things work out for you and Miss (L/N).” He said before closing his satchel once more and straightening his coat. Philip nodded. “Thank you my friend.” Philip then delicately placing the letter into his inner breast coat pocket. Then, the two young men exited the room and walked back to the front door. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton were in the next room, Alexander at his writing desk, Eliza on one of the cushioned chairs, sewing. At the sound of voices, Alexander looked up from his work and peered over his glasses at the entrance to the house. He saw Philip and his friend Stephen Price shake hands, as if a deal or some other conversation had gone down, before Philip opened the door, letting his friend leave the house, calling out a final farewell. When the door closed, both Eliza and Hamilton shared a look. Holding his gaze with his wife he called out, “Philip!” He turned and watched as his son entered the room, stopping to stand in the doorway. He glanced at his mother before turning to his father. “Yes Papa?” He asked. Alexander peered at his son through his glasses. “Is everything alright?” He asked his son. Philip nodded quickly, “Of course Father. Stephen just came to ask me some advice about a situation from last week.” Philip quickly lied. The eldest Hamilton child could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he held his father’s gaze, praying he wouldn’t question the fib. Then his father nodded. “Alright then.” He said. He then watched his son turn and exit the room and run upstairs. He glanced at his wife and let a smile fall on his lips. “Does he think we don’t know?” He asked his wife, who smiled as she went back to her needlework. “Young love…” She said with a light giggle. Alexander chuckled and nodded in agreement, before he went back to his work, a silent prayer in his mind that Philip and you remain safe.
