Happy Jess Franco Friday!
This week I watched In the Land of Franco part 1 & 2.
Severinfilms puts together some outstanding supplemental features and I was so excited for this one as it features the venerable Stephen Thrower and his vast knowledge of Jess Franco. Parts 1 & 2 may be found on the new releases for Cries of Pleasure and on Nights of Open Sex. Thrower visits various locations featuring beautiful vistas and striking architecture that Franco was able to locate in Portugal with his keen eye and skill with minimal budget. Thrower describes what films Franco featured them in cutting in original shots and ones showing how things look in 2018. It is amazing the number of films that used these same exteriors and interiors. I’m looking forward to future entries and can’t wait until Antonio Mayans shows up. A must watch for Franco fans!
