which song had the best backstory!!

oH they ALL did!!! i stg this isnt a copout answer. every. single. song. on. lover. had. a. story. and taylor clearly not only puts a lot of thought into her songs when shes writing them but also when she picks what songs she wants to put on an album!

One Al Stewart album I particularly love is A Beach Full of Shells which is based around songs from different historical perspectives but mainly WW1 (hence shells) and it feels a similar creative direction to folklore to me, like Mona Lisa Talking - a song from the perspective of the Mona Lisa watching people in an art gallery in love and relationships going wrong feels a lot like something Taylor could do with branching out since songs like Carolina:

"This is the Mona Lisa talking, out on the street where love goes walking, into the shadows that can't hide you, here is a voice that speaks inside you" The rhyme scheme is obviously more simplistic than Taylor's style but it's an interesting way of communicating inner emotions.

Its also got a cool bridge I like to view from different moods where either the paintings are sympathetic to a sad person visiting them or dismissive of all the loved up couples:

"These Renaissance girls know what they're saying, there are whispers at night in the halls of paintings, you think you're the first one to come untethered, but we've been watching you forever"

And if you want more impossibly vague thread connections I'm definitely not imagining "Blonde hair and eyeshadow, I hyperventilate"

Its not really pop culture but I see so many links between taylors writing style (folklore content lyric wise especially) and the artist Al Stewart but in a way that is deeply feminine way which I adore. For example the getaway car of this 'she left me the keys and a dozen LPs, a phone bill warning left for the morning, and I left the dark on a seat in the park feeling very strange' PLUS the man has an album called year of the cat lmao

I LOOOOVE finding parallels of any kind so this is super intriguing to me. I don't know Al Stewart much (though somebody - it might have actually been you! - recommended Broadway Hotel to me), but I think I see what you mean! The parallels you sent are striking for sure and also have made me excited for the themes and sounds Taylor might epxlore in the future. She definitely has the range to attempt something similar to Mona Lisa.

Do you ever defend friends even when you know they’re wrong? I'd defend them from someone who was being rude to them, but I wouldn't defend their wrong opinion.

Who’s your favorite superhero? Black Widow for sure. She's the only one who's comic books I've bothered to read. Besides her I love the Avengers and Spiderman and Deadpool and some of the XMen a lot.

What is the last song you listened to one million times before hating it? Um...I think it was that Arctic Monkeys song "Why Do You Only Call Me When You're High?" and/or Bastille-"Pompeii"

What is the meaning behind your url? I'm so glad u gave me a chance to answer this. Okay so about a year ago, when I would regularly go on tumblr tags but did not yet have a tumblr, I was on my favorite johnlock blog obviouslydeduced (go check them out if you ship it they're amazing) and asked them what would happen if sherlock popped bubble wrap instead of shooting the wall when he's angry. They liked the idea and just went with it and then the next thing I knew they got a shit ton of questions about it and I was so proud. Basically I named my url after my fifteen minutes of internet fame (because I'm a conceited piece of shit).

You get up at 3AM to go make a snack—what is it? Chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Someone you like asks you out. What is your first reaction? I'm actually in a long term relationship but I was so happy when he asked me out and immediately said yes and told everyone. Now if I got asked out (since there are a few people who like me) I'd be flattered but I'd definitely say no.

What movie could you watch over and over and still not be bored of it? All the Harry Potter movies.

What’s your dream job? It's still being a writer, but I'm going in the direction of surgery since writing's not a reliable career.

Honestly this is a really tough one, but ever since I read the Harry Potter series in 5th grade, no other books can compare.
