Stepney -> Lady: Finds kinship in their shared hardships as engines formerly at the risk of scrap, though a bit overwhelmed (smitten) by her at first.
Stepney <--> Rusty: Familiar and fond of each other’s company. Work together harmoniously and have similar interests. Sappy folks.
Lady -> Stepney: Curious about his experiences as a rescued engine, but also warms up to his amiable personality.
Lady -> Rusty: Wasn’t it a dream? …Nah, train god’s real. And she happens to fancy an earnest, hardworking, down-to-literal-earth little diesel.
