It was two days until Christmas and Stiles had finally went through with his gift idea for Derek.
“Stiles why is there a puppy in my house?” The sheriff asked through the phone.
“Oh yeah about that. I got it for Derek but it’s a surprise so I couldn’t exactly take it home with me,” Stiles replied.
“It would have been nice to warn me. Instead I had to find out by stepping in crap.”
“Sorry. Love you dad.”
—
“Derek, I’m home!” Stiles yelled as he opened the door to the loft.
“Yes I know. I could smell you from downstairs. Why do you smell like dog by the way?”
“Maybe because I’ve been cuddling with you, Der-Bear.” Stiles smiled up at him.
Derek pulled Stiles to him, wrapping his arms around his waist. “It smells different though.”
Stiles shrugged and pecked him on the nose.
“I’m gonna go make some hot chocolate, want some?” Derek asked.
“Yes please. Ooh Ooh, Star Wars marathon?” Stiles asked hopefully.
“Of course, baby.”
—
“So what did you get for Derek?” Scott asked.
“Well, I got him a puppy. Partly for me, but mostly for him,” Stiles said through a mouth full of curly fries.
“Does he even like dogs?”
“I don’t actually know but he’ll like this one.”
“Can I see it?”
“To dad’s house!” Stiles exclaimed.
—
“Oh my God it’s so adorable!” Scott said.
“Yeah until it pees on you,” the sheriff grumbled.
“What are you naming it?” Scott asked.
“I’m still thinking about that.”
“Hey there boy. You wanna take a walk with uncle Scotty?” Scott asked in a baby voice.
Stiles rolled his eyes, smiling at the adorableness.

It was Christmas day and Stiles was very excited to give Derek his gift. He pulled up in his jeep and took the puppy up to the loft, trying very hard to keep it concealed.
“Stiles what’s that?” Derek asked as soon as Stiles opened the door.
“It’s your present!” He yelled, holding the puppy out to Derek.
Derek took a step back. “A puppy?”
“Yeah, isn’t it adorable?” Stiles asked smiling.
“I’m not very good with living things under the age of 16.”
“Well he is almost 7 in dog years. That’s almost half.”
“Almost,” Derek said, eyeing the puppy skeptically.
“Here just hold it.”
Derek sat down on the couch and just stared as Stiles set it down in his lap.
“Stop staring at me,” Derek told the puppy.
The puppy continued to stare up at him, titling it’s head to the side. Then it turned and laid its head on Derek’s thigh, closing it’s eyes.
Derek hesitantly put his hand on the puppy and started to slowly stroke him. Stiles could see a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips and knew he’d picked a great present.
“What’s his name?” Derek asked.
“Roscoe Jr.”
“You named it after you’re jeep?” Derek asked incredulously.
“Yes because Roscoe is a great name for a dog and because I love it as much as I love my jeep.”
Derek shrugged. It made sense.
Stiles sat down next to them and laid his head on Derek’s shoulder.
Derek leaned his head down and pressed a soft kiss to Stiles lips. “Thank you.”
—
“Who’s ready to eat? Because I’m starving,” Scott said, walking into the loft with the rest of the pack close behind.
“Awww that is so adorable.” Kira whispered. Stiles and Derek had fallen asleep along with Roscoe who was still in Derek’s lap.
“I’m taking a picture.” Lydia said taking out her phone to capture the adorable sight.
