This was the Stereophonics first ever UK number 1. 'Dakota' is not mentioned once within the song however it is the name of the place that John Lennon lived in when he died. It seems that the songs about someone's first relationship and being broken from it ending, which is how this could link. Others may think it's the name of the girl who was in the relationship. The music and rhythm of the song is upbeat, yet when you actually listen to the lyrics you hear how sad it actually is; major contrast.
