Part 2 of my new furniture:  Mom also upgraded my indoor home to a new, bigger, and see-through enclosure!  💗

Before this, my indoor enclosures were all opaque Rubbermaid tubs.  Typically, experts recommend opaque enclosures for tortoises because we shells do not understand clear glass and will continually try to go through it.  If we can see there, we want to go there!  😖

Mom decided to try this see-through plastic storage bin for me because I love watching everything she does so much.  Mom was very nervous about whether the see-through plastic would stress me out, but to Mom’s relief, I love my new enclosure and am not stressed at all!  The plastic is still cloudy enough that I know it is there, so I don’t try to go through it.  👍

I am very excited that I get to watch even more of what Mom does.  I can even follow Mom as she walks around now!  In fact, I have learned all of Mom’s habits, so I know exactly which corner to wait in at which time of day!  Mom says I am the nosiest tortoise ever!  👀🐢😂

Yay, all the lace making stuff, tatting and bobbin, and tiny threads fit in the square Sterilite container that’s been kicking around for awhile. I wouldn’t trust carrying it by the handle but it works. 

The yellow disc is beeswax if you’ve never seen that kind of thread wax before. The long hooks with black handles are for cro-tatting. The round clothespin looking things are lace bobbins.

This is the backside of the cage. The box we used is a Sterilite brand "gasket box". It is the 30 liter size. That's an unmodified one I'm holding in the left of the photo. The box has nice clamping closure and includes a foam gasket in the lid to make it airtight. I drilled holes for the hex bolt, fender washer, and wing nut combination used for attachment. I also drilled a 1/2 in hole for the oxygen tubing to enter. I cut the hole and door with an electric jig saw and used metal rings for the hinge visible in the part 1 video. The oxygen tubing is protected from chewers by that PVC pipe on the right side and then by a fleece wrap and covering rug while it crosses the floor. We used 3M command strip hooks as attachment points for the hanging hammock.
