Figured out something to buy July21
Thank you people who bought a few of my books recently (redacted) I settled on some cro-tat hooks and the only Handy Hands thread holder i didn’t have.
Not that I couldn’t have picked them up yesterday at Hobby Lobby but I treat the little bit of book money I make as a windfall so if I just wait a week or so for delivery they’re “free”.
Jo-Ann was having a ‘we’ll possibly stop carrying these so for fu#ks sake buy what we’ve got at a fabulous price’ sale. And so I did, but I only bought one of colors I liked but didn’t have. There are two whites but being thread I thought snow white was different than regular white, it’s a thread thing. Could have cleaned them out and hoped to make it up reselling the extras or I left some behind hoping the price might interest someone else in the art of tatting or teeny tiny crochet.
They did push the other threads out of the box I decoupage with reprints of vintage thread advertisements, like I care, but all the holders and the tatting needles fit in. I want to put in a bit more practice making rings but I’m almost to the point of attempting something more interesting than a bookmark.
It started off buying one color so I could have some size 20 to do crochet gages for the dolls. More colors came in usually in 2-3 to coordinate with the ideas of making outfits or something. Tried shuttle tatting, I need 2 to make it work, but needle and cro-tatting, tried with a bigger hook and thread, have worked out.
Now I’m getting the idea of combing crochet with some tatting elements. I also want to see if I can finish a size 20 thread doll and if making her size 20 clothes with a tiny hook would fit her better.
I’ve worn the red holder on my wrist a few times while doing some pineapple crochet. I like the design of them, totally works.
Finished 5 Brothers and 1 Million sisters. Meh. Don’t know what I’ll read next.
I think the ball jointed doll is ready to have its arms worked on. Make them more arm shaped, make the shoulder balls, build up the sockets. Outside from some refinement the hips look about as good as they’re going to for the time being. The humidity and thunderstorms have been messing with the drying times.
More real life today but there’s been some real life good news in that one of the irritants will soon be settled and done with.
