A few of my old drawings, from the 1990's.
Paleozoic Oceans
The Paleo Party Guest of the day is Stethacanthus!
This early shark relative is one of a few cases where we have sexual dimorphism recorded in the fossil record. The large anvil shape in the hypothesized males had those tentacle shaped structures on them, in addition to another patch on the forehead. Studies show that these structures had erectile tissues, similar to certain structures in certain other males. Either it was used as an interspecific display feature, or as a defense mechanism, looking like a much larger set of teeth on the top of their heads.

Fukuisaurus, Cartorhynchus, Nanuqsaurus and Stethacanthus
I quite like all of these, though the Fukuisaurus needed some touch-ups afterwards. Stethacanthus is a little goober :3
